Spain

sorry, I'm not going to be much help in the mini-moon ideas, except to mention since you'll be married in July, somewhere on the east end sounds nice. there's also many places in CT to go to for a long weekend/week that might be nice. But I'm interested as well in where in Spain your going for your honeymoon? We just booked our 2 week honeymoon there - flying into Madrid, then after 3 days there going to Sevilla, Granada, and Marbella, where we'll spend the majority of our time on the beach. It's nice to know someone else is doing Spain too!!

mini-moon ideas (sorry if it's long)

Hi, My FH and I are going to do the same thing... that is the mini-moon and taking a full one a few months later. We are looking into staying in the city for 2-3 days since it is close. We discussed getting a very nice suite and seeing a play, nice dinner, etc. We love the city, but that's our idea, I don't know if it's what you're interested in. Another idea is Montauk (as you mentioned). My FH and I stayed at a really nice hotel (montauk manor) a year ago. It was in Nov. so the prices were cheaper than during peak season ($115/weekend). The montauk manor is a very quaint tutor style old hotel. I found it to be romantic. We had booked a suite. The suite had 2 large bathrooms, a large living room, bedroom with king sized bed, and a kitchen. The views were pretty, however it is not on the water. It does overlook both the bay and ocean since it is up on a hill. From our room we could see the ocean. If you don't mind that, it is a short drive to the beach (2-3 min). Also in Montauk, my FH had stayed at Gurney's Inn for a conference just last weekend. He said it was fantastic! His room (actually he shared a cottage with a few of his collegues) was right on the beach and had a fireplace. It had french doors that opened up to the beach. He said the food was excellent and the place offered spa services. We are looking foward to spending a weekend out there. I do think it is pricy though (but he didn't have to pay for it so we don't know how much). Other than those suggestions, I don't have any others. I hope they were helpful. Good luck!

Spain - chmlengr

My FH family is from Spain, so it makes things a little easier...plus I will meet his grandma and other family(FH has a house on the outside of Madrid), but after that we will probably hit the beaches as well...we were thinking of an island via barcelona...mallorca, or in that chain, but found out since its august it will be very crowded with spanish vacationers...menorca may be less crowded...there are also the canary islands which are part of spain, but off of africa... the reason we are waiting until august is b/c in his uncles town (valdepenas) there is a festival like pamplona (smaller - more family like not so touristy) always the last week of august. so we will come back for that. so after all this I think we will do Madrid...barcelona...menorca...valdepenas happy planning if you have any questions email me at [email protected] and I'll ask my FH or FMIL...
