misery loves company!

Original post by MonkeyLuv

So I'm sitting here on the computer, doing work because I hate, hate, hate my job, but I'm completely paranoid about getting fired. I've got a glass and a half of wine in me and a cigarette (yeah, I'm doing the opposite of quitting smoking right now).

Who wants to join my pity party and just go total b!tchcakes about the sucky things in her life?

Only the miserable and pathetic need apply!

Re: misery loves company!

My secretary is driving me slowly insane--hands me a stack of 10 messages to return at 4PM...When one person called back before I had returned their call, she said LOUDLY, 'She might not be competant enough to return all the calls quickly, you'll just have to wait...' DH has decided he may want to sell cars and leave his career as an accountant...I was accepted to a doctoral program in an area I just might not want as my career and have to decide pronto whether to spend the $$$$$ for the program or screw it...Just got my credit card bill and ask myself how HOW I can rack up $1000 in bills at Target, the grocery store, and gas station every month... And oh yeah, I am PMSing and probably gained five pounds from all the chocolate I have been eating....

i don't necessarily hate my job - yeah its not the best job on the planet, we're not saving lives or anything. but i work with certified morons who need the simpliest concepts explained to them over and over again - no i don't work with or for special needs kids. we have the hypochrondriac who has a new 'problem' every week and therefore can't do any work. we have the attendance taker - don't work in a school either. you all know the one - starts the day by checking who is here and if so and so is out, 'is she/he sick,' 'is it a vacation day. 'I hope so and so is okay.' blah blah blah cakes.

we need about 15k on top of the 11k we already have saved to pay for our wedding. fh job sucks out loud ( to borrow your phrase, liz) his hours change and he doesn't know until he's already at work.

we both still live at home and can't afford the down payment on a cardboard box on li!!!!!

how's that??

Re: misery loves company!

I am having major problems with my boss at my PT job at the college and after being in my office for four years, she just wrote me a letter where in some areas she personally attacks me and lies about me. The letter is to the degree that I think I am going to forward it to the Director of HR, my boss' boss, and the president of the university. I am also quitting - I cannot work for this woman and I never thought after all this time it would end like this :(

I'm sick

I have to start student teaching next Monday... which I wouldn't be so stressed out about if I didn't have to student teach and do an action research project at the same time.

I haven't even started my interview portfolio and I have to interview in 3 weeks - where I hope to get a letter of intent so FH and I can book a honeymoon and have any hope of survival next year. (on the up side, I'm in Virginia where a really nice 2br is 710/month).

ETA: FMIL has started calling FH 1-3 times a day. I'm fearing this may be my future

Sorry I missed this pity fest. I was washing my troubles down with wine as well. 2 glasses hits me harder than it used to!

Really, the suckiness hits me more in the day--I hate my commute as well. It is about an hour & ten minutes of peopel stuc kwith sucky people to coem to a boring, yet overwhelming job that I'm not good & and answerign the demands of more sucky people

And like Rainmama, my house is a mess & I'm too lazy to do anything about it.

Re: misery loves company!

I just went to get my Friday bagel (in an attempt to limit since I cannot eliminate carbs I get a bagel once a week on Friday) and, so excited, opened up the bag in my office only to find the bottom blackened, almost charred! My one bagel of the week...

I hate hate my job.
I have been getting serious chest pains, my doc is putting me on meds and checking me for stomach issues.
MonkeyLuv, I could kill for your wine and cigarette. I am going to have to cut those small pleasures out of my diet due to my stomach issues.

I also just saw this now and have to chime in!

Venting is good - here's my current list of problems with my life:

I h a t e HATE HATE my job because I work in an office where I get no recognition whatsoever for my 5+ years of work, and I'm surrounded with people who make me feel like an insignificant and worthless piece of crap - 8 hours a day - 5 days a week - and I wish I was stronger so it didn't bother me so much

The LIRR sucks big time and between the decrepit, late trains; fares going up AGAIN; and my hour-long commute, I'm just completely burnt out

I hate that I need a car and can't afford once because I spend over $3000 a year on aforementioned crappy LIRR. I despise taking the bus home alone everynight bc I don't have a car.

I have close to 14K in credit card debt that I will be paying off for the next 5 years, if I'm lucky.

I beat myself up way too much about trying to make everyone happy and I end up feeling overwhelmed and just wish for once that someone would take care of me the way I do them....

I think everything I do is wrong and I'm never going to have my stuff together....

I hate that most of my NJ friends never want to come out to see me, even though they have cars and I used to go out by train&bus all the time to see them. I haven't seen three of my friends in over 6 months because of that.

I love writing with a passion, it's the only thing I do that makes me feel worthwile - but the though of sending it to a Publisher and getting rejected keeps me from going any farther with it.

UGH, I think I actually feel WORSE now!

Not really. It's slow-paced and I'm not getting NEARLY enough money. Plus, for some odd reason, they haven't been scheduling me all that much. I've already started applying at other places.
