metal or plastic. i registered for metal but thought if i'm using a mixer that's metal, won't it scratch it up?
i have a habit of destroying things in the kitchen so this is why i'm asking

Ours are metal. Kitchenaid mixers come with metal bowls. I think you could go either way.

i bought one and never used it .
if you're not fussy, I scored at Kohl's on the pink one. I got it for $140 with a sale and a rebate for the 5 1/2 quart. this was almost a year ago though
i guess i'll look into the metal some more. i want a non slip one though!

ITA....plastic ones tend to scratch and ruin faster than metal or glass

Re: Mixing bowl question?
I have a few of each, glass, metal and plastic. I use the plastic when I cook with FH's son, and it's also good for a party to put chips and stuff in, I like the metal ones (no rubber base) because if i need to use a double boiler i just put them on a saucepan. The glass ones I like too but can't use them if i need to pour batter or something out of them cause they're too heavy for me.
What is great that I found at the christmas tree shop is a giant measuring cup, it's like 6 cups, has the spout and handle and a lid and is great for pancakes, cupcakes and cakes. I think Pyrex or Anchor makes them.
i registered for metal ones and i really enjoy eating popcorn out of them

Re: Mixing bowl question?
I have so many of these, and I always end up using the metal ones...
The Pampered Chef has stainless mixing bowls that have lids, measurements and are non-skid.
Don't worry about scratching them, they're bowls... it's not like they're teflon or anything. I dont' like the plastic ones bc they don't last as long... I have other mixing bowls from when I was a kid and they are still great.......
