Where did your mom get her dress? How much did she pay?
I went with my mom this weekend. we saw dresses for $800. I think this is way too much. Any ideas?

Re: MOB Dress
we got her dress at burton's in melville... they have really good prices and if you see a dress you like in a mag or at a retail store they can usually get it for less money (they order it for you)...
HTH!!

Does Burton's have a variety of sizes? A lot of the dresses we see out there aren't too 'Mother-of-the-Brides-y'. My mom needs a more 'conservative' look. Is Burton's good for that style? Thank you!

My mom got hers at david's bridal. She paid around $200.00 or so? It's a really nice dress. Conservative yet fancy.

Re: MOB Dress
We went to Davids Bridal but they make there dresses for people who are not taller than 5'8. My Mom is 5'10 so they are out. My mom found a dress there she liked but it was too short.

well, burton's is more of a 'i love this dress (show pic) and want it' place than a shopping place. so you find a dress that you like (shop anywhere you want, get the price/designer/style) then call burton's (speak to carole) and she will take the info and order it for you and be able to tell you at what price she will get it for and when you can expect it to be in...
my wedding dress was over $1800 retail and i paid just under 1000 for it... my sister saved a bunch of money on hers too and so then we went their for our BM's dresses and MOB dress!
HTH... good luck

Ohhhh ok. My mom is only 5'4' so she had no problems height-wise there. Sorry!

Re: MOB Dress
My FMIL bought her dress at Nordstrom and didn't pay all that much for it.
I definitely think $800 is too much for a MOB dress.
My mom hasn't started looking yet, she is doing weight watchers and we figure its better to wait until the fall.

Re: MOB Dress
RK Bridal. with alterations, I think it was about 350. But, she got a $100 parking ticket when she went for the alterations, so we count that in with the dress too

Re: MOB Dress
my mom got her dress at Nordstrom's, but she had also seen some nice dresses at Estelles in Farmingdale and Off Saks at the Source. Maybe Lord & Taylor would have something too?

Here's my mom's dress. She got it at Metamorphasis in St. James. The dress is made by Jovani.
