MOB dress

MOB dress

so heres my issue....

My mom has never been traditional... she would rather die than conform to any set of rules... She has been looking for gowns for my wedding and I HATE THEM ALL!!!

My mom is still fairly young she is only 52 she has always had a great shape (she has recently lost some weight so looks even better) and is pretty. I would never expect her to wear an old frumpy MOB gown, but the ones she is picking are F*in PROM DRESSES!!!! they are al bright bold colors and low backs and I am freaking out!

She and my Dad are both walking me down the aisle and I feel like she will stand out more than me. i don't want to sound like a bridezilla but hello I would like to have some attention on MY wedding day as I walk down the aisle. She understood a little better when I explained it to her that way but still I feel bad bc I don't want to hurt her feelings but I am telling you these are inappropriate in my opinion.

At my sisters wedding she wore a beautiful strapless black gown with beading on the bust and up and down the slit (not to high of a slit) and looked amazing I swear I would rather her wear the same dress again than some of these she is chosing now....

HELP what do I do????

i don't think she'll want to wear the same dress again, which is understandable.

Maybe you can bring that dress up though and tell her how great she looked in that style, cut, color etc. See what her reaction is and when you go with her maybe have her try something similar on again.

I know she wont I am just saying thats what I would rather than some of these other things I swear I WOULDN'T EVEN WEAR!! I've done that and to be honest she agrees she just thinks she wont find another 'perfect' dress like that... i keep telling her she will

Re: MOB dress

what if you agree that YOU can pick out the color and SHE can pick out the style. At least you know the color will be okay and nothing too flashy will be coming down the aisle.

Also, if you want to be sure...check out some dress shops to see the different cuts in a particular color. For example, are there any severly low cut plum or navy blue dresses? Maybe do some HW before without telling her....then just pick the color.

That way she will feel like SHE has control of her own particular style...but since its YOUR wedding its okay if you pick the color

GOOD LUCK!!!!

My advice would be to suggest maybe she could wear any color she wants but maybe look at some gowns that aren't so prom dressy. tell her you loved the style of the dress that she wore when you sister got married and then maybe she and you can use that style to find her something tasteful that she will feel great in and that way you won't feel overshadowed. I hope this helps.

Aw your mom wants to feel young! OK, so heres how I dealt with my mom, and its working:

Print out a variety of pics of dresses that you like and think would look great on your mom. Than show her and tell her to pick from the ones she likes. THAN, book an appointment and go with her to try the dresses on. She needs some extra special attention, so give it to her.

I deal with Momzilla. This is working so far. Trust me, she will really appreciate your gesture.
