Hi girls I need some advice. My mom lives in Fla and we have been discussing her dress. She was wondering if she could wear a short dress (like knee length) is this unheard of? The wedding is on sunday in the afternoon. I told her i would prefer a gown. (she is the mother of the bride!!) and my bridal party consists of only my sister (long gown) and a couple of flower girls. but her bridal shop in Fla said either way was ok.... im sure she will go with whatever I want, but I want her to be happy too. what do you ladies think??

Honestly, i think a long gown would be much better. The only other optin I can think of is something short on the inside with a longer cape or jacket-like piece on the outside. Another option (that I also saw at an award show recently) would be to wear a long gown but where the bottom part is a sheer fabric...Not sure if any of this would be flattering.. But if you can talk your mom into a long dress that would be the best option I think - especially since your sister will also be wearing one. Good Luck!

For an afternoon wedding a short dress is also appropriate. If you would like her to wear a long gown just ask her. I'm sure she won't really mind. I live in FL and the gowns here are the same as up there so there is plenty of selection.
I just saw that you are getting married in May. For us Floridians we get cold easily she would probably be more comfortable in a long gown also.Just a thought...
