I'm going with my mom to Sugarplum in Garden City today to take a look at some MOB gowns, but when I went online and saw the prices I was shocked!! I know this store has alot of really high end designers, but I was expecting like $400 tops for a dress, not $1000... what is the average price of a MOB gown, and do any of you know of some good stores? My mom is kind of picky, and is very fashionable (for a 52 year old lol) and she does not want a typical MOB gown with those ugly jackets and stuff. She wants more of a long bridesmaids dress type of a look

Did you try Estelle's? I know they're hit or miss but they have some beautiful dresses.
Also, look at Nordstrom or Bloomingdale's - they have beautiful gowns!

I went the other day to sugar plum with my mom - I was shocked at prices too some of them were 800 she tried on. They were having their semi annual sale of buy off the rack dresses that will be discontinued. My mom found one we loved there so she got it for 159! Regular 600! She is adding cap sleeves to it and hem and taken in a little so alterations would be 250 but still not bad.
We had gone to like a zillion other places before this one so I was just happy she found something

THIS! My mother is so excited for the wedding she already went looking at gowns and found a few she likes at Estelle's. :) Reasonably priced, as well.

My mother found a Mori Lee dress that she liked online and Estelle's was the only authorized retailer that had that dress in stock to try on. My mother fell in love with it but we weren't very fond of Estelle's itself (a whole other story) so we went to Burton's where I got my bridesmaid dress and they ordered it for my mother for $80 less then what Estelle's wanted it for.

that's good to know!! I went to burton's last weekend and ordered the BM dresses, so I will definitely contact them about my mom's dress when she finds one she likes

How about looking for a Bridesmaid's dress since that's they style she likes? Not only are they less expensive, but it really opens up her color options too. Sleeves or a shawl can be added if she wants more coverage and broaches/belts can be added to jazz it up!

@meejack1110 I was thinking of doing that, but my mom is 4'11 and need a petite size, which the bridesmaid dresses don't come in. I got her in a long bill levkoff dress, but she didn't like having to use her imagination to figure out what it would look like after alterations haha she's very hard to please!

Just as long as Burton's sells the designer, they can order any dress for you. And they told me the MOB alteration cap is $100. The lady that does alterations at Estelle's said she did not know what a cap on alterations meant, when the dress comes in and she sees what needs to be done then she would tell us how much. That was very helpful. lol

Oh wow! Thanks fr pointing that out. Thy had about 2 or 3 long racks of them divided into sizes Try lord and taylor my mom liked some of those and this place in baby long village as well as totally you
