mob has a bad review

My mom is starting to look for dresses to wear to my wedding. she is plus size and therefore based on ads seen in magazines and online, i referred her to Sugarplum.

She said she was treated rudely because she wanted navy blue and that she didnt like how the plus size dresses were in a back room that she was not allowed to go into- only employees are allowed back there so she couldnt even search for something else.

She said the lady didnt even ask what style she wanted and insisted my mom would look good in a mermaid style suit dress (um hello! shes size 28- i highly doubt that!)

I hate that someone would treat my mom so badly!

My mil just went throught the EXACT same thing with them!!! they asked her what style she was looking for but she said she wasnt sure. They had all the dresses in the back and would not let her see anything!!!! She also said alot of the tags were ripped out and they put sugarplum tags in its place so she could not find out who made the dresses!!!!!

Well it absolutely stinks that it happens to a lot of women...but Im glad it wasnt just a singular thing against my mom. Where did your mom find a dress in the end?

Macy's bridal in Manhasset. She said they had alot of the same dresses but cheaper!! and she was free to look through the racks and try on whatever she pleased. Plus they werent missing the tags so she knew who made what

That's just aweful I don't understand people - or businesses for that matter.

Yeah I have heard a lot of people say they were rude there. My Mom and I actually got lucky and went on a slower day and got a sweet older woman who helped us. My Mom found her dress on the sale rack. Sorry your Mom had a bad experience.

Just so people know the place isn't all bad...

My mother got her dress there and had a good experience. It might also depend on the person who helps you.

I went to Sugarplum today looking for a very nontraditional weding dress and was treated so rudely that my mother and I walked out. I was very disappointed in the service and how arrogant the sales lady was.

My mother and I had THE worst expererience in that place...the woman was rude and told me that I didn't know what my mother wants but she (the sales lady) did ...Ok I have only known my mother for 28 years!

And that my mother should not pick something that looks good BUT something that makes her look youthful....I came very close to telling this nasty beoch off...so much that I needed to walk out!

My mom had a great experience there for my brother's wedding 5 years ago, and when she went back for mine she was not happy at all. She ended up going to Totally You on Merrick Road in Bellmore and was very happy. My MIL got her dress there as well - and they are on completely different ends of the spectrum for sizes - and she was also thrilled.

My mom wound up at Totally You also and had a great experience and they had a nice selection for each size range.

I thought that Sugarplum is advertised as a plus sized store. If so, it makes no sense how they keep the plus size dreses in the back!

My mom's dress was from Eva's in Sayville. They seemed to have all sizes, big and small. I would think that it is worth a call to find out what they carry. My mom's dress was either a 16 or an 18, but the sample that she had to try was a 22. Still, that worked better than trying a size 8 or 10 sample!
