I don't see the problem with black . I LOVEEE it

I told my FH if i could wear black i would

My Gpa told me his mother wore black to his wedding bc she was mourning Atleast for her black meant bad.. i think most people wear it bc its flattering. My moms most likely wearing black.

I personally am not a fan. While it's elegant, When I go to a wedding, I try not to wear black. I like to be more festive for a happy occasion.. and I told MOG and MOB no black gowns and they agreed.

I'd wear a black gown or cocktail dress to another kind of party, but if I can help it, not to a wedding.

But some people find it more elegant than a symbol of anything else, so I guess it's a personal thing.

If it looks good, and you love the dress then go for it! There are no rules...

I don't find anything wrong with it, but I asked my mother and MIL not to wear black because I wanted them to stand out. I figured there would be plenty of guests wearing black dresses (which there were) that I wanted them to stand out from the crowd.

I completely agree with this but my FMIL doesn't see it & it that's what bothers me...

my FH's mom is wearing black (she asked if i had any color preference, and i did not). i think she's going to look elegant, sophisticated, formal - which i'm happy about. i know there are other colors she could wear to get the same effect, but this particular dress looks great and happens to be black, so we're just going with it. :-P

Re: MOB in black?

I think it's a personal choice..my mom is wearing a dark navy blue (unless you hold up something black you would think she is in black) and I think she looks great.

I don't see any issue with it but that is me. There will be people that disagree

Re: MOB in black?

there was another recent post about black and negative reviews for wedding---- funny thing is my wedding colors are black and white--- and i have seen this done 2x before--- loved them both. so my mom, my g-ma, and fh's mom are all in black as well as my bm's :)

i did not limit the moms and gma to just black but wanted a slate or silver tone--- they all chose black once they picked their dress.

I'm not a fan of black, white or ivory for MOB or MOG. I plan to share that info with both women before they begin to shop!

Should be fine. The truth is...no one really cares at the actual wedding. Besides, black gowns are so elegant (in my opinion anyway)

My mom is wearing a GORGEOUS black dress!!! I think it's so elegant!! I don't see anything wrong with it. My mom was hesitant, but she looked stunning so that's all that matters!!!

Re: MOB in black?

the only way i think it would be inappropriate is if it showed nip and cooter lol
otherwise i wouldnt worry about it being black unless she was telling people 'im wearing black cause im upset' lol (say that on a movie i think monster in law lol)
