MOB & MOG same color??

ok, so I've never heard of this but my FMIL seems to think that she and MY Mom should be wearing the same color.... no one I've spoken to has ever heard of this bc I thought I was going crazy- I just told the mothers to make sure they dont get the same color dresses as the BMs (which is Sangria)... so my mom (who is normal) got a really pretty black dress... she was debating between black or purple but the black one looked amazing so she got it!
My FMIL thought my mom was getting purple and so she got a really pretty purple dress... then I told her my mom got black and shes bugging out going, 'maybe I should dye it to match!' I go, 'What are u crazy????? you DONT have to match with her!!!!!!!!!!!!'
She keeps going on and on about her freakin purple dress (which is reallllly nice!).....
so has anyone EVER heard of this before????? AHHHHHH! so weird

i never heard of that. FMIL actually asked me what color my mom was wearing so that they're not wearing the same color

omg i had/have a very similar issue and its been soooooooo stressful posted about it here

since ur FMIL already has her dress, its easy to convince her to just keep the beautiful color she already has!

why don't they seem to get this??? my FMIL doesn't necessarily think she *should* match my mom, but she doesn't think its a big deal at all if they do

it used to be a trend in the 80s to have the MOG and MOB in matching colors.

esp since it's black, i don't think it would matter if they matched b/c so many people will be wearing black, but if she wants to wear the purple, then let her wear the purple

i could care less what my FMIL is wearing - all i know is that she better not show up in jeans

I never heard of them HAVING to match ... I heard they should coordinate though, so they do not clash in combined family pictures.

never heard of that before. I mean if they both find a dress in the same color and neither one of them cares too much then I don't see a problem with them wearing the same color dress. But that it's mandatory? No way.

Tell her to keep the purple dress. Explain that they should coordinate not match. If she didn't have a dress yet then of course they can match but they don't have to. I have three mothers to deal with. Mine is wearing navy, FMIL is wearing teal, and FSMIL is wearing royal. I think it's going to look so pretty!

You don't have to but mine are and they both are wearing one of the two colors I asked them not to wear LOL

haaa my mom didnt really want to (or care either way) if they wore the same color or not--- but FMIL said 'she had to get the same color' so YUP they are both wearing black. oh well does not bother me :)

I never heard of it, but I really don't care if they have similar colors, as long as they don't match the bm's. as long as it isnt the same exact dress hahaha
