modern type reception halls..do they exist?!

Original post by cNe1908

hi! i am new to this forum and in need of help. we have been looking for a reception hall on and off for quite some time and can't seem to find somewhere that we really like.

we now live in florida, but are debating whether to hold the ceremony in florida or new york, but are leaning more heavily to new york (most of our family live on long island as opposed to florida). there seems like many beautiful places out there but not what we are looking for. many places have a very old fashioned, traditional feel to them with very outdated decor (we have had an opportunity to see many more places in florida than new york and this is a big commonality out here-very traditional wedding halls. reason # 2 for considering new york). although they are very beautiful facilities, this is not what we are looking for. does anyone know of any facilities that have a more modern design/feel to them that they could recommend???

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

So glad I found these places because of all of you! I am really liking the Metropolitan and the Somerley. I just hope they can accommodate the 200 guest count!

The new Somerley Room at Fox Hollow is nice & modern.

You may want to consider looking into pent houses in NYC. I know you can rent them as your wedding location.
