MOH and BM questions....Please help and add your plan

I was wondering how long in advance you girls are asking your MOH and BM's? Also, are you choosing their dress or or you allowing them to choose? Thanks : )

I asked the girls around the one year mark. My FH asked his brother to be his best man the night we got engaged, and has asked two other guys to be in the wedding since then... but he is still figuring out the rest!

Stil havn't offically decided break down , but most likely (we're asking 7/20/07)

1- Matron of Honor 2- Best Man
1- Maid of Honor 2 Gm
2- Bride's Maids Possibly 2 Ushers
1- Bride's Man (?)

*Stil havn't decided on FG may or may not have 1

I asked all my girls either before Christmas Eve or on Christmas Eve, which was a little over 2 months after we got engaged.

I'm really not sure what I'm going to do with the dresses yet. At first I was thinking of picking a color and then letting them pick their own dress, then I was thinking of getting separate bottoms and tops and letting them pick their own top and I would pick the bottom. But I'm really not sure what I'm going to do yet - I might end up just having them wear the same thing. When I go dress shopping with my girls I'll see what they like and what they want to do.

I'm waiting until it's about 6-8 months before the wedding. FH and I have discussed this at length, and both of us agree that with the way certain relationships I've had with 'friends' have changed since we got engaged...I'm better off waiting until I can be sure I'm asking someone that will be excited to help out and will be there for me. We've been engaged for almost a year, so I'm anxious to see my friends' reactions

I think I'm going to have them choose a dress that looks best on everyone in the bridal party.

i already asked mine! and i am taking everyone shopping to pick out a dress... when it comes down to it, im going to be the one to choose the dress, but i want to make sure it looks good on everyone!!

Can you believe that one church by us, the one that FSIL is getting married at won't allow an aisle runner or rose petals thrown by FG's. Is this the same for anyone else? I thought that was strange.

this is pretty common actually.

Many churches dont allow it, for one rose petals stain the floor or carpet and its alot of cleaning up for them to do...dont forget that on saturdays they have mass at 5 so they have work to do after your wedding, plus the staining part is a big reason lol.

Aisle runners, they do this to prevent accidents, it can move and slide and the bride can fall.

i'll be asking mine this summer...so a lil more than a year away. I will be engaged about a year before I ask, and it's just because I didn't want to rush and made sure I was picking who I truly want. I made them all will you be my bridesmaid cards and will be giving them to them.

As far as dresses...my plan at the moment is to take a few with me, and I will welcome their input, what they like, don't like, etc. But I know what color range I want to stay in and in the end though I will have the final decision.

Slip..fall..Denise, that's a scary thought!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am defintely bringing my girls out shopping, so they can try on different dresses THEY like...this, I think, will help me choose the one that fits them best, looks the best and looks good with mine. Ultimately, I have the final say...sorry if that's Bridezilla-ish, but it IS my big day lol

we told or wedding party right after we got engaged....most of them were there that night...lol.

I picked two colors I like and we are going to go together and make a group decision on what dress and what colors looked the best on them.

we all have similar taste so it ( hopefully) shouldnt be a problem.

I asked mine right after I got engaged... and my sis basically already knew she was my MOH, because we always said we would have each other.

As for the dresses, i'm going to go with the girsl and have them try on dresses and tell me what they think, but ultimately I have the final decision... and everyone is wearing the same exact dress, I don't really want any mix and match dresses... I want everyone wearing the same thing.

I told them xmass time after getting engaged in september. I selected var. gowns asked for opinions nad we go officially shopping in August and then order them. We are going with with a picked out since both of them liked it.

Flower girl gets her dress in November/December

i officially asked 2 of them already (i made a card and shirts- pics in my album) the others i will be asking soon (when i see them)

I and having 6 BM
FH is having at least 8 GM
2 FG
1 RB

im going to pick the color of the BM dress and show a bunch of styles that i like but i will take a few with me and let them choose the dress they all like the best

and we are using velvet studios for photo and video

I already asked mine. I got so excited and asked them all a few weeks after we got engaged. I sent them cards. They were all really excited...even the little ones...lol

It's my second wedding, so I didn't go all out with BM, but I am having my daughter (5) and FH daughter (21) in the wedding. My daughter, I chose the dress, but for his, I told her the color and let her pick the dress, It went very smoothly that way...

lol I asked them about a week after I got engaged.. I am letting them try on any dress that doesn't look tacky/indecent and that is in my color (not that they would choose something indecent). I want them to be happy with wearing and comfortable.
