MoH Dilemma

MoH Dilemma

I love my MoH Kim dearly- she is one of my closest and oldest friends, not to mention I hooked her up with her husband who is like a brother to me and I know him and his family since we were 10 years old.

I asked my friend Kim to be my MoH and Friday I found something out. She is pregnant with her 3rd child and due on Jan 28th, 2008- and my wedding is on March 9th, 2008.

She still wants to be a part of the wedding but when is the best time to get her dress? Also what about sizing? Anyone have a similar dilemma?

Any advice or help would be appreciated at this time.

TIA!

Re: MoH Dilemma

getting an MOH dress for her might be rather tricky.....cause she will have dropped the pregnancy weight after the baby, but still might be carrying extra than she normally would. maybe have them order her a dress that is a size or two bigger than she normally is...and ask to order extra material just in case she might need it to be altered. its easier to fix a dress if its too big than too small.

OR you could just tell her to buy a gown after she gives birth, and let her wear whatever she wants, in hopes its similiar to the colors you want...that way she is different from everyone else (dress style wise) and stands out as your MOH

I was thinking of letting her buy the gown a size or two bigger and then let it be altered that way but I am not so sure.. I was thinking of going to David's bridal to get the gowns- I know that you can buy off the rack there but it's hit or miss as to what we can get in that particular color and size.

I'm kinda torn as to what to do.

I had to deal with this with 2 of my BM's. We got them dresses about 2 sizes too big so that it gave them extra room just in case they are bigger still than they anticipated. They are waiting till a few weeks before the wedding to get it all taken in.

I say, if you already had your heart set on a gown, have her order it in the largest size she can before the price goes up (with some dresses, if you order a size higher than say a 16 than the price goes up). Once it gets closer to the wedding, she can have it altered to her post partum body... also, try and get the alterations capped so that she's not paying an arm and a leg.

Congrats to your MOH!

Re: MoH Dilemma

Buy something with a corset back that can be adjusted....maybe...and buy it in one or two sizes larger... that way they can always add/ take in material

Im sure wherever you are buying it from can work wtih you..they are familiar with pregnant bridesmaid.

Re: MoH Dilemma

I had the same situation with one of my bridesmaids....she gave birth march 16th and our wedding was June 2nd. The person who helped me at the bridal salon had me bring her in for measurements when she was just out of her 1st trimester...so 3-4 months pregnant. The salon said she will more than likely be in similar shape since the birth is close to the wedding.

It worked perfectly....she had her alterations done somewhere else due to timing (getting them done closer to June 2nd)....but there were no issues with the dress.

Also I think it depends on the style of the dress....
