I am planning on choosing my bridal party soon...the only problem is...choosing a maid of honor. I was maid of honor at my friends wedding 3 yrs ago, and although we still see each other occassionally and talk on the phone now and then, I dont feel as close to her as I used to and I am debating whether or not to have her as my MOH. She is having a baby soon, has been married for quite some time, therefore is in a different place in life. She assumes she is MOH. I just feel we were so much closer back in the day and I know if I don't ask her, she will be VERY offended and hurt. Now, I have a cousin in Florida who I am very close with and I want to ask her to be my MOH, but I don't know what to do cause of my 'best friend' here in NY.

Well if you are afraid of hurting her, maybe have her as your 'matron of honor' and your cousin be the maid of honor.

your cousin can be your maid of honor (assuming she's not married) and your friend can be your Matron of honor.

I believe that you should pick your attendants based on who you're close to now. If you feel like your cousin is the right person, then pick her. You can always explain to your friend by saying your cousin is family....
good luck!

i had the same problem i was recently her moh but we don't talk as much so i just decided to go with family and have my cousin needless to say she was very hurt i heard threw the grape vine her future hubby at the time let everyone expect me know, but it got back to my anyway. I'm going to have her walk alone. good luck i had many sleepless nights but it is the best choice i made

I think since it's your cousin - you can always say that you felt like you needed to have family in the bridal party, etc.

Sure you can do that. It is your wedding. There are some brides that were on here that have had more than 2 MOH. So don't worry.

I was going to suggest the Mad/Maitron thing too. You can have your cousin do more of the traditonal stuff, like walk out last, hold your bouquet, & your friend's title can be more honarary.
I was going to do that with my 2 cousins but my mom says one is too young-- 15 now, 16 by wedding. She said I should include friends, (so does FMIL) but if I do that, I feel obligated to have someone whose wedding I was in, but I'd rather just have the friend I'm closest too now, but I think people will get upset, so I was sticking to maitron of honor & 1 bridesmaid, but now I think the 16 year old is too immature, but how do I pick 2 friends, without upsetting the rest of my friends?
