MOH Dress Question- on the long side

MOH Dress Question- on the long side

Ok.. some of you may remember from other posts, one of my MOH's is pregnant and due 6 days before my wedding. We have been discussing what she should do regarding a dress.. She feels that she will go early, as her mom and sis did- so, when I say there is a slim chance you will even be at the wedding, she disagrees with me.

At first she was going not going to get a dress at all- and we did not even discuss what ramifications that had on her actually being in the wedding party..

Then she decided to get the BM dress and use it as her 'materninity evening dress' that she would wear to other events, etc. She would most likely wear the dress before the wedding- which did not bother me.

Today she tells me that she thought she would maybe use this black dress her sister had, then get a wrap in the same color of the BM dresses.. so she can still be in pics, etc. I don't necessarily think this will work- and I told her- I don't want to stress about her black being covered in pics, and wondering if my pics come out ok. I always planned to take a couple pics with her alone- after I fouind out she was prego.. But, I mean- when I posted about my BMs wearing the same color shoe- everyone was like they need to be the same.. so, black against ivory and sage green will def stand out.

Basically, the end result is that she wants me to make the decision and she will do whatever I want.. I personally feel that yes- I want her to look like a full on BM if she is at the wedding- this is not only for me- but for her too.. Part of the fun is to wear the dress and all the other stuff that comes with it. Also, I would like her to be in as many pics as possible..

On the other hand- I feel like I look like the bad guy if I say- yes, I want you to get the dress, then again she gave me a choice. But, if she was due any other time- she would be getting the dress anyway-- so, I don't know.

I have no idea what to do- I want her to have the dress, but I don't want to look like a bridezilla. I told her this exactly- and she just tells me to think about it-- I'll do whatever you want..

If she really thinks she will come, even if she has the baby a week before, have her get the dress.

How it would be altered to her, I don't know.

She says that anything she wears like right after the baby is born would still be maternity-- that not true?

It really depends how much weight she puts on with the baby. Since she is the MOH and can look a little different, why don't you wait until the last minute and she can always buy a dress off the rack that compliments your sage BM dresses. I do agree that black would probably be too stark of a contrast to the sage, but there are other colors that could work.

It would still be maternity. It's not like your body just pops back in like a miracle, unfortunately....

She would need to get the BM dress-- it would be a materinity style though.. All the girls are wearing different dresses anyway in the same fabric-- so, her wearing a different dress in a different color would not look right. Plus, I have another MOH too.

She/we don't need to decide until Jan- as the maternity BM dress only takes 5 to 6 weeks to make.. but, as this is new news as of today- of course I am going to sit and stress and think about excessively, as any bride to be would..

Tough situation!!

I'm not sure what I would actually wind up doing if I were you, but I know that I would want her to get the dress.... Unless she's Cindy Crawford, I think she may be able to wear the maternity dress after she gives birth.

Have you contacted Jenny Yoo for suggestions? (that's were you got them, right?)

What about an ivory dress with a sage wrap?

I have spoken with Jenny Yoo (herself!) about it. Who btw is 29 and makes me feel like a total underacheiver, but that's another story entirely!

She does not have to order the dress til Jan-- we'll take our chances with different dyelots-- it's not a big deal.. She can purchase fabric to make something also.. I don't want her in ivory- that would look weird and that is what I am wearing. She bascially wants to use this black dress her sis already has-- but I mean, if she is planning on being there-- she should be in the dress, no? It's not like they DON:T make maternity dresses- one of the reasons why I chose JY was cause they had them--

This girl is in great shape and will no doubt bouce back quickly- but doubtful one to two weeks quickly.

I could not agree with you more about that. What have I been doing with my life?

About the dress- I would want her in the same dress/color. And JY's maternity dresses are so beautiful. When I was looking at them on the web site, I was wondering if they could be altered after the BM had the baby. (personally, I couldn't see why not.)

I was in there and another group of girls were like- you look so young.. and she is like really- I'm 29.. I am thinking to myself- I am 29.. and what the hell have I got to show for it!!

OK-- so, I am not being like selfish bridezilla type wanting her in the dress?? She is like the photographer can strategically place me-- and I just think no offense- he should be thinking of the best pic, not to hide you--

No, you're not. That's part of being a BM. (for better or for worst- in some cases) The photographer is really going to be concentrating more on you and your new DH at while he's taking pictures, not really on hiding a BM.

my thoughts exactly-- I mean, I love her and everything and am very supportive of her-- but, I mean.. it's is my wedding dat for goddsakes-- all wedding party pics are not focused on hiding her dress.
