I was thinking of paying for my sister's makeup/hair instead of getting her a gift. Is that cheesy or tacky? i know she is on a tight budget & can't afford to pay for it.
I just thought she would appreciate that more. rather than jewely she will just wear one day.
what do you think?
thanks !

Re: MOH Gift
I would love that too!!
If your pretty open with your sister, just ask her...
Or, if you feel like you want to also get her a gift..just get her a really small 'thank-you'

Re: MOH Gift
I dont think it is tacky and it is a very nice gesture but I agree, talk to her.
It can be viewed as a selfish gift. I dont want to upset anyone by saying this.
I had a Great discussion with my matron of honor about a gift the girls would use on the day of, like a necklace or paying for hair. I asked her what she Honestly thought, because I really wanted to know.
She rightfully explained that if it is something that will server a purpose for the wedding and is intended to do so, it is really a selfish gift because at the end of the day, by giving the gift your serving yourself.
If you talk to your sister she may not feel the same way however, I would still get her something else on the side. Something she can keep.
I hope this helps, again i dont want to offend anyone but if your asking for an honest opinion this is it.

your not offending me at all.... thats what these boards are for. i'll tell her about my hair/makeup trials & see what she thinks or how she reacts and take it from there.. I know her money situation i wouldn't want that to stand in the way of getting her makeup/hair done IF thats what she really wants
thanks

Re: MOH Gift
I can understand the selfish thing...... but, I'm doing it for my MOH too, and, I guess it all boils down to if she wants it or not.
Definitely discuss it with her, and see if that is what she wants!

Re: MOH Gift
Actually I'm thinking of paying for make-up for all my girls instead of getting them a gift (not hair, I have 7 girls!). So, no I do not think it's tacky. I'm torn because i do love the idea of getting matching necklaces for all the girls.

Re: MOH Gift
i can actually do both. i can go to macys & get her something simple (necklace/earrings). i don't want to get anything to flasy because don't want to take away from the dress & thats her style..
