so i bought all of my bridesmaids the same thing (a coach clutch, pashmina & pearl earrings/necklace/bracelet set). it occurred to me that my moh should have something a little extra - perhaps a larger clutch or la'occtaine soaps (her favorite). do you think its necessary to give her something a little more - or is this enough? i was once a moh and didnt receive anything extra or different from the other bms. thoughts?

It might not be necessary, but if she's really helping and supporting you, stuffing envelopes and learning to bustle your dress and dealing with all the crap MOH's usually do, it would be a nice gesture. If she's a MOH in name only, you could probably get away with keeping her gift the same. I'm planning on getting my MOH something extra, even if its just a bottle of wine, but she's been amazing helping me with everything.

I got all BM's the same thing too. Since I'm not making any of them get their hair or makeup done but my MOH wants her makeup done, I was thinking of paying for it for her. Either that or a gift certificate for a massage.

I think that the MOH should get a little more. They usually do more for you.

I think if she isnt doing more or anything like that getting them all the same thing is fine! To be honest I still don't get the entire gifting to the BP thing BUT if anyone is doing anything special to help you I get the gifting!

Why don't you get it? The BP, especially the bridesmaids do A LOT of extra for the bride. They help (and some pay for) the bridal shower, pay for the bachlorette party, and usually they chip in and spend a good deal of money on a bridal shower gift. Most bridesmaids spend, on average, more than $1000 on a wedding. That's A LOT more than you would spending if you were only a guest.
Plus the bridesmaids, and MOH especially, is basically at the brides beck and call during the wedding. They have to help with the bustle, help her go to the bathroom with her dress, etc. So it's not like she can just kick back and get completely plastered during the wedding.
Yes, it's considered an 'honor' to be in a bridal party, but it is a headache for a lot of these bridesmaids. So the BP gift is just a little 'Thank You' for doing all of the hard work.

As the bride that invited my party I am paying for everything they will not be having one penny leave their pocket and I wouldn't expect them to as I invited them to be part of my day. And alhtough it is difficult coordinating for many differnt people not one person in my BP has experienced a headache as I have made multiple appoitnments to meet individual schedules. I consider them accepting my invitaiton as an honor not vice versa. And I have been in 4 BPs and have never expereinced a headache nor have I ever paid I guess its just the way my family does things. Makes no sense to me to invite someone then expect them to pay for it. I guess if that's how you are doing it a gift would be appropriate but whats appropriate for a headache and a $1k bill??

oh, and to answer your question.... I paid for her hair and makeup, along with giving her the same gifts I gave the rest of the BP.

I think that is a nice gesture! ANd yes but I think I am in minority and honestly we are a tight knit LARGE family so I'm assuming it has just been passed down that way..LOL..

I got all the girls bags, hangers with their names, a tumbler, and earrings. I got my MOH a bracelet to match her earrings as her something extra.
