MOH hurting my feelings :(
My younger sister is my MOH. While we love each other very much, we don't always get along. I wouldn't have it any other way in the world with having her as my MOH. BUT, she just keeps hurting my feelings. I don't see her that often and when she does come home I'm always so excited to talk about the wedding and show her stuff and I feel like I'm bothering her. She keeps calling my wedding a 3-ring circus, humming the 'theme song' of a circus and calling me Barnum and Bailey. I really don't think I'm going over the top at all. I'm not sure if it's that she's jealous because I'm getting married and she's single or if she just doesn't like my taste (which I already know she doesn't) or what. She was annoyed that I chose her dress and while she hasn't even seen the jewelry I ALREADY bought for her she's already saying she wants to pick out her own because if I picked it out it will probably not be her style. Umm hello?! It's MY wedding supposed to be MY style? I just feel sad that if I can't share my excitement with my own sister.

It definitely sounds like she's jealous. Sit and down and talk to her and tell her she's hurting your feelings. She's your sister she loves you, she probably doesn't realize how hurt you're getting.

I agree. She obviously sounds jealous. But don't say that to her, just explain to her that she's hurting your feelings. I'm sure once she sees that she is upsetting you then she will stop.

I'm really sorry about this. I know how it feels to be hurt by the people who are supposed to be most supportive of you.My cousin is one of my best friends in the world, more of a sister to me (we're 11 months apart). She is one of my BMs (I am not choosing a MOH, everyone is equal), and about a month ago told me that she is moving out of the country in September. She said she's 'tired of doing everything for everyone else all the time' and needs to do something for herself. Meanwhile, she's the most selfish person I know sometimes. So BESIDES the fact that she won't be here the last year of my planning, she also is now going behind my back and telling all my other BMs that we HAVE to do my bachelorette party in February of next year because she'll be back in America for another wedding.
I don't mean to sound like a b*tch, but I don't want my bachelorette party revolving around when she comes home. In fact, I'm so hurt by her, I want to purposely not have anything (bach party, bridal shower) any time that she is home. I know it sounds horrible, but I'm really hurt that she has decided that this year is the time she should move abroad after we grew up talking about our weddings.
I don't have much advice, because as you can see, I have to talk myself out of being vindictive, but talk it out with her. She definitely cares about you, but maybe doesn't know how to keep her jealous feelings to herself.

I think you should be honest with her and tell her it hurts you.

I'll be honest... She might be jealous but I don't think that's only it. I think something else is bothering her about the wedding and the circus comments are her way of letting you know that she's upset. She's trying to make you upset too.Would it be so bad if you let her pick out her own jewelry/accessories to go with her dress? Yes, it's your wedding, but it might be a nice gesture to let her own personality come through in one item, especially if that's what's bothering her.

Aww that's terrible to hear, when this should be the best time of your life & you should have support from everyone around you. I think you're always going to encounter people that are jealous, but you can't let that bring you down..always have in your head..You're beautiful & it's YOUR wedding!! She is is your sister and maybe you should talk to her and tell her what she's doing is hurting your feelings, not sure if you have that type of relationship with her or not. Just follow your heart and know what is right for you...It's your day and just enjoy it! Don't let anything or anyone bring you down even if its family

Thanks guys!! I did try talking to her. I really think that a big part of it is that she's still single and I'm getting all the attention from our family. She thinks everything I'm doing is WAY too much money and I tried explaining to her that unless you're the one planning the wedding, you really have no idea how much things can cost or how fast they add up. I said I can't wait for it to be her special day one day and how I'll have this knowledge and experience to help her. I said I plan on supporting her in her decisions and this would be best for us if she could do the same. I decided to show her the jewelry I bought for her and she 'said' she liked but I'm not sure if she was just being nice? Either way, she said it's fine. BUT I did decide to let her pick out her own hair piece and told her whatever she wanted. I didn't say a peep and thankfully she got something that looked beautiful (I saw it this weekend).

^^ I'm going through that too! My cousin and another friend mentioned how much money my wedding is costing. Not for nothing, it's your business and your wedding and however much you choose to spend is no ones business but yours and your FH (or whoever might be helping pay)!!!Welcome New Vendors
