Re: MOH Speech???
I know our best man has tried to convince her but I'm not sure of the outcome.
She is somewhat on the shy side, so I would think she isnt going to which is perfectly fine with me. I wouldnt feel comfy talking in front of lots of people either and I want her to do what she is comfortable with.

Re: MOH Speech???
I definitely want my MOH to do so, and she is psyched about it. I think it is nice to have people from both the bride and groom's lives have a voice at an event that represents the coming together of both sides.

Re: MOH Speech???
we had two best men and two MOH's, so only the best men gave toasts. I didn't want it to be too much, so we didn't ask the MOH's to do any.

Re: MOH Speech???
I don't know yet how I'm handling this. It depends on a lot of things - we have two best men and one MOH. Do any of them WANT to give a speech? I know my MOH wouldn't, she's not the public speaking type. Of the best men, I'll ask my FH to speak to them to see if either, or both, want to do it.
Or we could skip it.
Anything goes with me, I'm easy.

Re: MOH Speech???
We had two best men and two Maids of Honor, and they all spoke...lol. It was very touching. I think each of them felt less pressure knowing that he/she wasn't going to be the only person speaking. It actually went pretty quickly, b/c they knew that with 4 speeches slated, they didn't have the luxury to ramble on and on.
I think it's nice if the MOH makes a speech. Unless the BM is someone who both the bride and groom have known forever, it's very difficult for that one person to really do the whole job and effectively give a heartfelt and personal tribute to both the bride and the groom. All too often, the BM makes a long speech about how he has known the groom for ages, and he adds some kind of reference to how lucky the groom is that the bride decided to marry him. There's nothing wrong with that, but I think it's even better if you can get perspectives from both sides of the bridal party. JMO.
Of course, if the MOH feels uncomfortable speaking in public, then she shouldn't be forced to do so. It's not a requirement, just a nice addition to the festivities.

I had two MOH's. I told them if they wanted to they could, but it wasn't necessary. My best friend did, but my sister wasn't comfortable doing it.

Re: MOH Speech???
The MOH and BM are giving speeches at our wedding. The MOH gave a speech at most of the weddings I've been to, but if you don't feel comfortable speaking in front of people, then don't give one. If you prefer to speak in front of a smaller crowd, maybe you can say a little something at the rehearsal dinner.
