Does the MOH have to give a speech? I seem to be seeing more of this lately and wasn't really planning on giving one at my cousin's wedding. I don't know if I can do it!!!

The MOH gave a speech at the last 2 weddings I went to - the first times I had seen this. I may ask my MOH to prepare one (just in case) b/c FBIL is the best man and he's not exactly tactful, not in the least bit - my biggest fear is that his speech will consist soley of 'at least she's not blond!'.

My MOH did not give a speech. However, the best man gave an amazing one...so much so that no one wanted to follow him - it was awesome!

Traditionally they do not (I think). I would like my sister/MOH to give one. Unfortunately my FH is very traditional. I have 8 months to convince him to change his mind!

It is totally up tp the bride and groom. My sister made me at her wedding, therfore I will be making her do it at mine. Payback!!

My MOH did and it was beautiful, even nicer then the BM I dont think there was a dry eye in the house. Truley a great speech

You never HAVE to do anything. It seems to me that it's becoming more and more popular for the MOH to give a speech. I think it's a great idea because I am very afraid that the Best Man is going to give a very short speech or not give one at all. He's very shy and very quiet. I liked to have my sisters (MOH's) to give a speech together to compensate for the best man.

It is up to you... I made one at my sister's wedding but my friend who just got married only had a best man speech. I am going to have both at my wedding.

My Matron of Honor knows me from the 4th grade. My Maid of Honor knows more of my adult life. Between the two of them, they will be making one heck of a speech. Actually, one wanted to do a power point presentation. LMAO!!! They are very articulate women and I look forward to hearing them speak.
