MOH Toast

Original post by jilmadison

My sister/MOH is not sure if she is going to do a toast. I know BM usually does toast, is it very common for MOH to as well?

Re: MOH Toast

I hadn't really thought about it until my sister (who is my MOH) asked me if she could say something. FH just asked her if she would mind speaking before his Best Man, so that's what we are doing.

Mine will. And if she tries to refuse I'll threaten to ask one of the Bridesmaids to do it! The Best Man doesn't really know me that well (he's FH's best friend, but he lives in Montreal...) so I don't want him to be the only one who gets to speak. My side needs to be heard, too, dammit!

Re: MOH Toast

My MOH/sister is definately giving a speech...she is just as important as the Best man/his brother.

I was my siste's MOH and I gave one- I loved being able to express to her and my BIL how much I care about them. It was so much fun writing it, although sad too. I plan on having both my matron of honor and maid of honor giving toast/speeches as well as both of the best men.

Mine did not because she was too shy in front if such a large crowd.

I have seen a lot of weddings where the MOH and BM both toast... you know my sister did at our wedding

I've been the MOH in two weddings and was asked to do a toast at both. It seems that most weddings I have gone to lately, the BM and MOH make toasts. I think it should be what you want and not what everyone else is doing.

I agree! If she feels comfortable with it, and wants to, then she should do it if that's what you want!
