Has anyone ever been? What can ya tell me about it? I believe that meals are included...how is the food?
I'm thinking of surprising DH with a weekend trip here for his bday in July...

Re: Mohonk Mountain House
I've been there a couple of times with my family for Thanksgiving (a long time ago). I never stayed there overnight, but my parents have and they love it. It's a gorgeous place! HUGE! And there's lots of hiking to do, plus you can sit by the lake, go horseback riding...

Re: Mohonk Mountain House
My father went there once for a three day conference recently. I also remember seeing a show about it on the travel channel maybe. It looks like a great place.

I've never been but have heard many good things. FH's aunt and uncle love it and always talk about different weekends that go on up there - (murder mystery, chocolate lovers, wine tasting, etc)
Also, I think that's where Miranda and Steve went for there honeymoon on Sex & the city.

Re: Mohonk Mountain House
Someone recommended this place to me when I got engaged...but I thought it was too far to travel to.
I am getting excited about booking this place...although it's a little on the expensive side.
But, we only live once and I really want to go here.

I have been there a few times - my father's business collegues go fairly often.
Stephen King often goes there to write.
It is a nice place - I would recommend it

Re: Mohonk Mountain House
This place is AWESOME!!
We love it .. it's a bit pricey .. but yes, meals are included .. even afternoon tea and cookies.
There is a dress code for dinner .. however .. we love getting room service and building fires in the fireplace .. then sitting out on the balcony.
There are miles of hiking, a lake to take paddle boats, canoes, row boats .. they have horseback riding ... just simply lots to do .. or not do.
There are no TVs or radios in the rooms .. this is a real getaway place.
Definitely .. if you go .. go to the Sky Tower .. this is an absolutely amazing view ... and a really nice hike.
As for the drive .. it's an easy drive .. I think we get there in just over 2 hours .. so totally worth it in my opinion .. and in our view .. it's far enough to feel like we've actually gone somewhere, without being too far to make you feel like not wanting to make the effort.
I highly, highly recommend this place.
Oh, and by the way .. the food is probably THE BEST we've ever had, anywhere!! Every time we go, there is usually something 'exotic' sounding (to us) on the menu, but we always love everything.
All the meals are plentiful. Lunch is a generous buffet .. and dinner is a full course meal .. including appetizer and dessert!
