I'm thinking of surprising DH with a weekend trip here for his bday in July...

Your welcome!!

By the way .. since you're planning on going in July .. just be aware .. I don't believe they have air conditioning in the guest rooms (you may want to double-check that) .. however .. it is in the mountains, and the temps do drop significantly at .. though we've never been there in the summer.

Oh, and one more thing .. book early for a weekend! And you can request your view .. lake, mountain or garden. We like the mountain view .. but all are stunning.

HI! Monhonk is great, I acutally got engaged there last July and getting married next month! Mohonk is absolutely gorgerous and yes the food is delicious!!! You must make reservations though.
We spent the entire day there and drove back home the same night. There are hiking trails which are alot of fun and the view is breaktaking. Its definitely an experience and its wonderful to just be away from the city atmostphere. There is a watchtower you can both walk up to (just bring comfortable shoes) and lots of activities such has rowboats, tennis and other sports available. I think its an awesome getaway - not far at all and definitely worth every penny!!
I hope you get to go and enjoy it.
