MOM AND DAD

MOM AND DAD

I dont know what it is..maybe its too soon. But I have a real problem with calling FMIL, & FFIL 'Mom' and 'Dad'.

What about you all?

I never really thought a bout calling them that! I don't think they expect me to. Maybe later in life I'll do it at some point!

Well, my FH father passed when he was young, and his moms nickname is actually Mommi, and everyone calls her that so that makes it easy for me.

I can see where youre having a problem with that though. Its hard to call someone else Mom & Dad. But just force yourself to say it and it will get easier and easier each time you do it.

Yea FH does it with my parents...and it just doesnt sound right..

i want to after the wedding but i dont think i will ever get to that point. . . my mom keeps telling me to start now and it will get easier with time but i am scared that the first time i say it - it will be one of those moments when everyone just stops what they are doing and stares at me LOL

Yeah I have that problem too...and to make matters worse she is seperated from the father and she wants to be called just Jeanne....which is even weirder for me!

I tend to call all my friends parents mom and dad! It is a respect thing, when I get to know them I start calling them that,,, so I already call my FMIL and FFIL that basically.

i dont think i will ever call them mom and dad....i just call them by their names. that is what FSIL does too, so i feel fine with that. i think i would only call them mom and dad if they told me to. i guess FH will call my parents by their first names too, although my parents call their inlaws mom and dad.

I don't think I could or will on an all time basis. Like I'm sure I'll interchange Mom and Dad with their names every now and again but to forever call them that, I don't know.

I don't expect it from my FH either. I'm sure he'll do the same interechanging mom and dad with their names every so often but not all the time

I would NEVER call them that
I have parents that are still her on earth
FH calls my parents by their names and so do I

It actually kinda freaks me out if he called them mom and dad - he's not my brother

I am not a traditional person at all, but something about that tradition i like.

My parents both called their inlaws mom and dad, even after they were divorced. weird right

and FH's parents call their inlaws mom and dad

So im used to it, and its a tradition i would like to keep going.

Yea...Im so used to my parents calling each other's parents mom and dad....I guess It will come naturally soon.

I actually solved this situation for myself a few weeks ago....

I called his mom (who is in NC) to tell her about my dress and keep her involved somewhat. His dad answered and I said hello Mr. G and asked if Mrs. G was around....

Well he told me right there that I was to call them by their first names from now on! I was pretty happy with that because I don't know if I could call them mom and dad....

My FH wants me to joke around during dinner with them and say mom can you pass the salad but it doesn't feel right. I think i might just call them by there first name like i do now
