Mom & FI are teaming up AGAINST ME!!!!!!

FI, mom, and I are on our way back home from mass yesterday and the subject of 'wedding budget' comes up.

We're currently looking for ways to lower the expenses, and both FI and Mom think we don't need centerpieces!

I couldn't believe what I was hearing...they kept insisting that no one will notice - but I WILL NOTICE, and that's the one thing I'm being very 'stubborn' about.

Our room has very high ceilings, and IMHO, high CP's were the only way to go. I got an AWESOME price on the high CP's...but there's no compromising....

They just kept going on and on and on and on about how CP's don't matter....

I ended the conversation with 'Listen, neither one of you is paying for the florist (I'm paying for the florist myself) so leave me alone and think about how you both can cut the guestlist down to save some money.'

I am so sorry you are going through this! But stick to your guns!!! Sometime of a CP is needed!!! Plus if you are personally paying for it, then no one should say a word!!!!

You should have what you want and if you need to cut costs ALL3 should cut costs since you obviously divvied up the expenses 3 ways. Maybe you would like candle CP's, they can be a lot cheaper and just as beautiful. But honey, whatever you want, you only get to do this ONCE.

No way!!!! I would rather eat dog food for a week then not have CP!!!! Especially in the room you are in!!!!

I know I might get flared for this but I was having the same convo w/my FH. I dont think CP's are really necessary. But he INSISTS we have to have them...to each her own

What You researched you azz off for this wedding to find the best prices on everything and now they want you to cut out the centerpieces

Not that I'm big on centerpieces but you should get what you want in this situation....especially since I know you got a great price for the centerpieces too

If you are paying for the florist, then they should look for other ways to cut the budget...maybe cut back on the things that they are paying for. I don't think they should be giving you a hard time considering it's your dollar, not there's. Stick to what you want!

UUUghhh.. Christine. Sorry you have to deal with this. Bottom line is... YOUR PAYING. Do whatever you want. They will apreciate it once they see how beautiful your hall will look.

stand firm girl! the guest list is what REALLY eats up the costs anyway!

You got an awesome deal on amazing CPs - I would fight for your CPs! I think they definitely can help create a mood and yours will look amazing. If all else fails, you could do 1/2 tall and 1/2 short to save a little $$$$. Good luck!

If Fox Hollow provided some sort of centerpiece that's one thing. But to have tables with NOTHING on them. I don't think it would look right.

EXACTLY! I even told them if we were in another room w/low ceilings, then I would totally forego the CP's and stick with candles or some other DIY route...but not in the Winter Garden!

I really can't believe they would even suggest not having CPs... Of course people are going to notice if you have nothing there! For cryin' out loud I've been to some weddings where the guests argue over who gets to take the damn thing home!!

I definitely think you should stick to your guns mama. Flowers are very important to you, and you are making whatever sacrifices necessary to have them.
