FI, mom, and I are on our way back home from mass yesterday and the subject of 'wedding budget' comes up.

We're currently looking for ways to lower the expenses, and both FI and Mom think we don't need centerpieces!

I couldn't believe what I was hearing...they kept insisting that no one will notice - but I WILL NOTICE, and that's the one thing I'm being very 'stubborn' about.

Our room has very high ceilings, and IMHO, high CP's were the only way to go. I got an AWESOME price on the high CP's...but there's no compromising....

They just kept going on and on and on and on about how CP's don't matter....

I ended the conversation with 'Listen, neither one of you is paying for the florist (I'm paying for the florist myself) so leave me alone and think about how you both can cut the guestlist down to save some money.'

Don't get stressed and upset it is not worth it. Get what you want, what makes you happy. Maybe try to cut corners on other little things, like the favors etc.....

I'm not big on wedding cliches, but I do totally agree with 'no pay, no say.' If you're fully paying for the florist, then you are getting the centerpieces that you want. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it! It may be their opinion that they are not necessary, but part of having a wedding with a ton of planning is having unnecessary but nice things. These include both things that cost money and DIY crafts. So while it may not be necessary, you want them, you are willing to pay for them, so you should definitely have them!

No way! The way to cut back on expense IS the guestlist... ppl will totally notice there are no centerpieces, besides your paying for it anyway so they can't say anything!
