After much preparation and coordination, my mom is scheduled to come home to NY on an air ambulance. The plane is very small and she will be flying with my oldest sister. The plane is staffed with a nurse and a paramedic and is set up much like an ICU for the air. Mom will go straight from the airport into rehab where she will undergo hardcore physical therapy. Her body is healing nicely from the surgery, but her other medical issues are causing much weakness. I will just be glad to have her in NY so I can see her more frequently.
NOW... she is complaining that she does not want to wear the new dress she had customized for herself (at great expense, I might add) because she thinks its too binding on her. Mind you, she has already lost quite a bit of weight and there is no doubt in my mind that it will fit her with plenty of room. She expressed an interest in wearing the dress she wore to my brothers wedding 5 years ago which 1) is Navy blue and since my BP is wearing navy , I begged her specifically NOT to wear it and 2) more importantly, it is COVERED in stains. Now I took it too the dry cleaner but honestly, I dont think that after 5 years of stains settling, that they will come out. The remnants of oil will most certainly show in pictures with all sorts of lights focused on her.
I know it will all work out and the important thing is that shes home. We will bring her BOTH dresses so she can see how damaged her 'preference' is and at the same time see how GORGEOUS her new dress is too.
Lets all hope that this plane gets in safely. Look how small it is!:

great news she is coming home....
those jets are safe... I'm an EMT... but wow, are they expensive!!!!
Yes they are and they are NOT covered by insurance. Great timing when you are planning a wedding right? The best part is that the company we chose to transport Mom home to rehab will not charge us a fee for using a credit card. We want to be able to get back some of the miles back that Mom used to fly us down to Dallas to take care of her. She may have to cash out some investments to pay the bill out but that is why people do things like that - for emergencies like this.
