Just got back from the longest day of my life...mom was at the hospital since 10 this morning and went into surgery about 3pm. The surgery lasted 5 hours. Mom is doing well and there were no complications whatsoever. They removed several lymphnodes as a precautionary measure and it was determined that the cancer had not spread outside the mass in her breast. This is great news as her chance of full remission is extremely high knowing that the cancer did not spread to the nodes. She was begging for food and water after the surgery and she said she was not in as much pain as she expected to be. She was acting normal by the time I left at 11pm. She will be in the hospital a few days and she will start chemotherapy in a few weeks. Thank you so much for all of your support and prayers. It really helped knowing many people were thinking of my family. Thank you all.

Jaime, I'm glad everything went well for your mother. I know this has been a difficult time for you and your family and hopefully these great news will be the first of many for you and your family. (Oh and think of how happy and ecstatic she will be with her new boobs! )

I'm so happy for you, your mom, and your family.. Any form of sickness can be very scary when it comes to family. My mom as well as my grandmother, and all three of her sisters have breast cancer, and its very hard to deal w/ b/c most likely it will be something my sister, myself, and or my daughter has to deal with. My mom has been off of chemo for about six months now, I only wish that when I get her age if I ever have to deal w/ anything in life like that, that I have the strength and courage to still fight, b/c that is exactly what she is a fighter! So good luck, my prayers are w/ you, and your mom
