MOM VENT

SOOOO does anyone else think their mom is psycho??? b/c I DO!

she just FREAKED out on me for s*it that happened like 4 months ago with the wedding planning..... im too tired to go into detail, but i would feel a lot better if someone else out there thought their mother was going crazy

yes.. my mom is driving me nutz... not just about wedding stuff. either.. unfortunately, she doesn't drive nor speak english well... so guess who is her chaffauer, secretary, translator ?!!! with regarding the wedding... she thinks everything the same as it was 10/15 yrs ago when my sister got married...... NOT

don't get me wrong i love her dearly & but sometimes forgets i have my own life to put in order..

the day i got engaged my mom said we shouldn't invite certain members of my dad's family because they are 'uncooth' and 'won't RSVP' and 'won't give a proper gift.'

later, after my parents told me how much they'd be giving me towards the wedding, i said 'well at least i don't have to invite those other relatives, that will save me some money.' my mom didn't talk to me for like 3 days, and when she finally called me she said 'you act like they are barbarians and won't RSVP for some reason.' MEANWHILE - she's the one who put the idea in my head and i NEVER could've come up with it on my own because I've never had to invite them to a gathering requiring a 'proper' gift or RSVP!!!!! BIPOLAR MOTHER ALERT!

Ugh, yes. My mom is driving me nuts too. I feel like I have to walk on egg shells sometimes with what I say in order to avoid 'hurting her feelings'. I just can't win lately. And ofcourse if she disagrees with anything I say, I'm accused of being a 'Bridezilla'.

WORSE THEN THAT is the FH's fam. They do everything last minute and respond last minute and they usually do partys including weddings in the house so I am freaked out about my wedding. I mean my baby shower is in 2 1.2 weeks and I am planning it with his mom since she don't speak english that great. So I call today to see who responded and shes like I have to call ppl to see I am like umm well this needs to be done by tomorrow we need to order the cake and give the place a final head count and pick out food. These people had awhile to do this too. I swear I am thinking about putting on the invitation you better respond or ill beat you lol haha. Ughh sorry about the long vent just getting annoyed.

Now that my mom said it, I'm worried my dad's fam won't RSVP either. AND, my mom is also worried that a lot of my wanna-be thug cousins will drink and drive and she's talking about getting a block of hotel rooms just so she can throw them in there if she feels they're too drunk. I was like ummm, that's really not necessary if it's going to come out of my budget, instead you should collect their keys and talk to their parents who will be there toO!!!

i was just asking - my mom speaks italian and the more stressed she gets the more italian she speaks even though she CAN speak english. she doesnt even realize she is switching languages - poor FILs get so confused!

I was like, I think it will be a great bonding experience for me and Jen, and it will also save money, and she was like I'll write you an additional check for favors before I have to deal with Lucy and Ethel trying to make favors.

Lol - speaking of this topic, let me see what you guys think. So my ex boss bought me and FH a gift certificate to Grammercy Tavern, which is in NYC and has been ranked in the top 10 best restaurants in the world. It was one of the best dinners ever, and at the end they gave us each and individually wrapped huge coffee cake and said it was for breakfast the next day. Well, even though I might look small, I beasted out and ate both of ours in the car on the way home because they were THAT good. So that's what I thought of for a favor - whether I see if Grammercy will sell them to me or if I just get the recipe/a recipe and try it.

Is this a stupid idea?
