Lol - speaking of this topic, let me see what you guys think. So my ex boss bought me and FH a gift certificate to Grammercy Tavern, which is in NYC and has been ranked in the top 10 best restaurants in the world. It was one of the best dinners ever, and at the end they gave us each and individually wrapped huge coffee cake and said it was for breakfast the next day. Well, even though I might look small, I beasted out and ate both of ours in the car on the way home because they were THAT good. So that's what I thought of for a favor - whether I see if Grammercy will sell them to me or if I just get the recipe/a recipe and try it.

Is this a stupid idea?

i was thinking of doing this too... giving everyone a bagel and the newspaper lol - but we decided not to have favors... but i think this is a really cute idea!!!!

i hope our mothers actions are not hereditary I WILL NOT BE LIKE MOM...

as for rsvps and invitations.. my mom has flat out TOLD ME... 'my family doesn't rsvp... they just show up'.. WHAT?? that may work for the family reunion mom but it's nt going to work for the wedding..

so i asked her who she's inviting.. we have family all across the country.. her list went like this..

well i'm going to send an invitation to North Carolina, one to Pennsylvania, one to Virginia....

uh mom.. those are STATES NOT PEOPLE!! she goes yes i know. i dont need to send them invites i can just call someone in each state and tell them! What are we SOPRANOS? calling the NJ sect of the mafia for a sit down????????????? NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!! u will sit down and write out a list of PEOPLE!!!

I guess my mom is psycho for NOT being psycho....but really.

I consider myself lucky because even though she knew I didn't really want a wedding, she's been sooooo supportive in the process. Especially when I call her crying when someone said something that upset me.

OMG..I had the same argument with my mom!!! She ended up crying too!!!!!!1

My mother doesn't see the need for anything at a wedding. She would be happy if we didn't have tables in the RH. I took my parents to see a RH and she actually asked the BM if there was anyway to do without the CH to save money AND if we could do without table cloths if that would save money. 'Wood tables are just as nice!' WHAT??? They basically laughed in her face. No CH?! She still can't get over how everything is. She said she would take pics instead of hiring a photographer!

'lol i can beat both i think...


the day i got engaged my mom said we shouldn't invite certain members of my dad's family because they are 'uncooth' and 'won't RSVP' and 'won't give a proper gift.'

later, after my parents told me how much they'd be giving me towards the wedding, i said 'well at least i don't have to invite those other relatives, that will save me some money.' my mom didn't talk to me for like 3 days, and when she finally called me she said 'you act like they are barbarians and won't RSVP for some reason.' MEANWHILE - she's the one who put the idea in my head and i NEVER could've come up with it on my own because I've never had to invite them to a gathering requiring a 'proper' gift or RSVP!!!!! BIPOLAR MOTHER ALERT!'


OMG sounds like something my mom would have said!!! And then she's like 'I would never have said something like that'

SOOOO does anyone else think their mom is psycho??? b/c I DO!

she just FREAKED out on me for s*it that happened like 4 months ago with the wedding planning..... im too tired to go into detail, but i would feel a lot better if someone else out there thought their mother was going crazy

I can't even START to tell you girls the things my mother has said and done especially since we got engaged.

She has been a major pain to say the least, and matilde can vouch for that.

my dad is the crazy one lol and always full of ideas...My mom is very laid back, doesn't tell me what to do or really make suggestions...if she hears a good idea she'll tell me about it but only if i love it, if i dont she doesn't expect it at all.
