Moms DOW dresses?

Moms DOW dresses?

I am the first to admit I don't know much about wedding etiquette so he's a question for you . . . Am I supposed to tell my mom and FMIL what color, or at least what color scheme their dresses should be for the DOW? Someone was telling me today that I am supposed to tell them what color but I've never heard this before. Neither mother has asked me what color I want them to wear so now I'm really wondering. The best part is I can't even settle on my wedding colors to begin with . What do you think?

Traditionally your mother chooses her dress color before FH's mother and I'm thinking that everyone should coordinate with the wedding party...not that they should wear the same colors, but they should certainly go...

My BMs are wearing 'glacier' (like a lighter blue) and my flowers will be shades of purple...my Mom is wearing a purple gown. I don't know what FMIL will wear.

My mom's wearing a Mauve color dress and FMIL is wearing a pink dress. My colors are mint and lavender. So they won't match but they won't clash either. It didn't matter to me at all what color as long as they were sort of pastel shades.

I told them they can have what ever color they want!!! I just want them to feel good and be happy. It wouldn't bather me if they had the same color as long they don't care I don't either .

Yes traditionally your mom picks a dress first and then FMIL picks a dress in a flattering color as well. IMO They should get colors that match your girls, not the same colors just colors that don't clash and clearly they don't have to. I just like the idea that everyone is in the same color family, but again that's my opinion. I've color coordinated my entire wedding cause that's just what I'm into Ya know :))

i honestly think they should wear whatever color they want (except white obviously lol), not everything has to be so matchy matchy and the mothers in my opinion should stand out its a great honor, i do agree though that the MOB should choose her color first before fmil
