Mom's Dress - Help me with convincing her

Mom's Dress - Help me with convincing her

My Mom and I went shopping for dresses for her this weekend and we found a gorgeous Jovani taffeta dress with gold beading in olive. She's worried that it's green, and that the BMs are in celadon so she didn't want to be that close to their color.

That dress compliments her coloring beautifully but she's worried about matching the BMs (I know, I told her that celadon is a completely different color than olive).

Can ya help me out here girls and convince her it's alright??

Thanks

I have the same problem...some of my BMs are in rose, and my mom looks the best in mauve! I keep telling her not to worry about what the girls are wearing.....and celedon and olive are NO WHERE near eachother....if she is in a dress she loves, color wise too, she'll fell happier and prettier and it will show to everyone. Plus if she gets a color that doesn't look great on her because she's trying to get away from the bm colors, she will see it in her pictures...explain that you don't care if she's in green and they are in a totally different green, and neither do any of the guests (if a guest does care its their problem that they have to deal with). HTH (let me know if it does actually since I've been working on this argument for my mother who decided that she will look for a blue dress when blue doesn't even look that great on her! Mom's are so silly)

Personally, I think it would look really elegant to have your BMs and Mom in green dresses that are close in shade, but not a perfect match. There is something very classy about it.

When I was younger, we had a family portrait taken. The photographer told us that we should all wear the same color. I never really thought about it, but the photographs come out so much better when everyone is wearing blue or green or black. If your mom doesn't agree, tell her it's for the photos. Your photos will look fabulous if your mom is wearing olive green and your BMs are wearing celadon.

Does the dress come in other colors? If not, she should get the gown that looks best on her. If the color doesn't matter to you, it won't matter to any of the guests.

Someone mentioned I should show her a swatch of the girl's dresses too, so that she can see the difference in color, which I think is a great idea.

I don't think there is ANYTHING wrong with that!!!! I know someone who wore the same exact shade of color and that is wrong. But different shades.... no prob.

I agree - I think it is nice when the moms have a little bit of coordination withe the bridal party going. Your mom will coordinate without matching - which I think is perfect!

SHE WILL COMPLIMENT THE BRIDESMAIDS AND WILL RALEY BE NEAR THEM... I THINK SHE SHOULD GET THEM. IF SHE LOOKS FABULOUS IN IT GET IT WITH THAT COLOR..... THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT..

FOR YOUR MOM! --- DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE COLOR BEING CLOSE TO THE BRIDESMAID COLOR. THE COLOR YOU CHOSE AND THE BM'S WILL LOOK SO GREAT TOGETHER. IF YOUR DAUGHTER SAYS YOU LOOK AS AMAZING AS SHE WROTE THEN BY ALL MEANS BUY IT AND LOVE IT. LOTS OF LUCK - A FUTURE BRIDE- CHRISTINE

My BMs are wearing Chocolate brown, and my mom wants to wear a similar color, and I think it will look nice together! Tell her to go for it, it sounds like a nice color scheme!

My mom is doing that. Her dress is a fushia/raspberry, and my BM dresses are raspberry with an overlay of black lace.
