Here's the dielmma- I told my mom I wanted to wear her headpiece at my wedding for good luck forgetting what it really looked like- So I tried it on, my dad got all teary, my mom hugged me and grandma is all excited but I don't think I like it. Its really oldfashioned, made up of crystals and I think its too big- what do you guys think and BE HONEST! You really won't upset me and I don't want to look like a dork!
well if your theme was like flacataca's for example (she is going with this whole princess look) then it would be perfect if not, it is bit much IMO

I know! I figure I will try to use it in my hair trial and see how it goes. If not, I have to break it to my sentimental family!

It is a little tall and elaborate. But if it means a lot to your family, maybe just take a few pics with it the day of? And then switch to yours for the rest?

Hmmm...it is a little big. But, how are you going to wear your hair? If you're piling it up high, it won't look quite as big...maybe?

I agree with the other girls. It is a bit much. But I have a suggestion. You can have the smaller crystals made into earrings. Like pretty chandeliers or stick earrings. This way you still wearing it for sentimental value but then you can wear a headpiece you really love.

Re: Mom's headpiece
I think if you have it wrapped AROUND an updo, it will look ok. If you do not like it, though, I think you need to be honest with your family. At least she didn't want you to wear a dress that was dated from 1972, my girlfriend had to break it to her mom that she didn't want her wedding dress! I know how hard it was for her to tell her mom, but things were fine and her mom understood. I'm sure your mom will understand if you don't want to wear it, too.
It is big but I also think if you are having a big updo, it will look ok.

Re: Mom's headpiece
Sorry, I have to disagree with everyone here. I cherish everything that has been handed down to me. Although I agree that the tiara is a little bit big, Im figuring you can hide it with a couple of curls depending on what kind of hairstyle your going for.

It is a big too big for me but I think depending on your hairdo, you might be able to wear it.

Re: Mom's headpiece
Thanks guys for all the support. I am going to try to wear it to the ceremony and change it after. I got a forum mail from a vendor with really helpful advice on how to do it! Your honesty and support are really valuable to me.
