Maybe I'm being picky, but I was shocked that my mom wanted to wear a pant's outfit to my wedding! Is this appropriate for the mother of the bride who WILL be escorting the bride down the isle along with my dad? I know my FMIL too is all about the pants too (let's just hope she at least buys a new outfit to wear instead of the one she's worn to the last 200 weddings she's gone to in the last 20 years!). She recently wore such an outfit to fiance's brother's wedding, but that was a SERIOUSLY informal event of less than 50 people. Just wanted to know what ideas others have of 'nice' pants outfits for stubborn moms at a formal/semiformal wedding!

Re: Mom's in pants!
Hee, hee, sometimes yes it is safer. Well, I took mom with me to do some window shopping for bridal gowns and while we were there we checked out 'mother of the bride' stuff. We found a style that she got so excited about and YES... it was a DRESS!!! It looked more comforable than any pant's I've ever worn. Just a plain dress, ankle length, nothing 'fancy' about the style of the dress itself, but it comes with a light jacket over it which 'adds character' to it and will keep her warm should it be cool that Septmeber evening in a wine vineyard (okay a little fantasy there, I haven't even traveled yet to the vineyards yet to see the places - we have an appt at Vineyard Caterers next week). It was even in the colors of my wedding, a little darker red than my BM's dresses. I just held it up to her and she beamed! It was so nice to see her smile like that!!! I'm SO glad I stuck to my guns and at least put the idea out there.
