Well when you take lamze, they also teach you how to take care of the baby, give them bath, how to hold them and such.
You can also go to the red cross and take resuscitation classes just for babyes.

There are a lot of classes that you can take! I am delivering at winthrop and they offer a ton...
Right now, through my doctors office I am taking lamaze. It not only teaches you about the breathing techniques, but it also teaches you A LOT about the birthing process... Whats happening to your body, what will happen, signs to look out for, we saw a video... They also gave us a tour of the hospital birthing room and went step by step through what to expect.
After Lamaze I also signed up for a baby care class, which should be really interesting..
There are other classes that you can take like breastfeeding, infant message, your first 6 weeks as a new parent, and infant tot saver course.

If you do some research you will find that Lamaze does not help women nearly as much as Bradley or Hypnobirthing. The breathing lamaze teaches is actually counterproductive during labor...it teaches a panting which deprives your body of necessary oxygen to help your uterus contract more efficiently. Also, I have found in research just on a few boards that moms who use Bradley have a MUCH less rate of epidurals and c/s. So you may want to look into all forms of childbirth classes.

I don't think you should go into labor without knowing what will happen to your body and the baby. It really does help you to trust your body and your baby. Also, it discusses all of the interventions that may be necessary.

I also think a bfing class, if you are considering it, is very important.
