Monday wedding?

My friend suggested I get married on a Monday of a holiday weekend. I said people will balk and not come, she says who cares? If they want to be there, they will. I'm trying to find ways to save $ but don't you think this is extreme?

Monday wedding?

I think it depends on what holiday. You have to think about the holiday and if most people have off and go away. Some holidays, like Martin Luther King Day, not everyone has off. You know what I mean? Also, for your out of towners...hotel rooms go up for holiday weekends. I also have heard people say it's annoying to have to go to a wedding during a holiday weekend. But, if you let people know way ahead of time, they can use another holiday to go away! Not everyone goes away every holiday weekend, ya know? Well so whatever you decide...good luck. You really have to look at every option these days because of the high cost of weddings.

Monday wedding?

I'm sure you've thought of this, but what about a Sunday night on a holiday weekend? My fiancee's parent just went to a wedding on the Sunday of Martin Luther King weekend. It was an early evening ceremony & reception and they were home by 10:30. People who had to go to work Monday were home early enough to get some sleep. FYI, I'm getting married on 4th of July 2003, and didn't get a price break for the holiday weekend, but they did give us a discount b/c July is one of their 'off season' months and the wedding is on a Friday.

Wedding on a Holiday

I have heard of quite a few people getting married on the Labor Day, Memorial Day, and 4th of July holidays. According to someone I spoke to, these days are becoming popular for weddings, so much so that these days are being booked well in advance and the savings may not be as much as you think.

I'm getting married on Labor Day

I received a really great deal for the reception as compared to having it on Saturday or Sunday of the same weekend. I have heard only one complaint so far, from my MIL (who else?)- but then again I like annoying her. Anyway, I say go for it. There are a couple of problems though- the park I want to take pictures in will probably be a little crowded (but that happens any weekend in the summer) and hair salons are usually not open (I plan on having someone come to the house). Good luck

Monday wedding?

I agree with your friend. People who want to share in your special day will be there no matter what day it is on. There is no law that says a wedding has to be on a Sat. or Sun. I felt that same way about booking mine on a Friday but there was a considerable price difference.

Monday wedding?

I agree with your friend also, the people important to you will be there. Be sure to send save the dates early on so people can plan to attend. Also check local hotels for availiblity so out of town guests have some place to stay. In some ways, I think it's better to have the wedding on Monday of the holiday weekend vs. Sunday because then people who planned to go away can still go but come back a little early instead of getting stuck in town the whole weekend. Good luck planning!
