Just a question... how do you guys feel about a Monday wedding provided that it would be a holiday and most people would have it off?

Re: Monday Wedding (3-day weekend)
I went to a wedding last year on Memorial Day...I was miserable I felt that I had to go to work the next day. I would have gotten in trouble for taking off...and I felt like I really couldnt enjoy myself the way that I would have liked to knowing that I had to be at work so early.

True, but the same with a Sunday. If the reception ends by six that evening would you still not want to go? I appreciate all of your responses!

Re: Monday Wedding (3-day weekend)
we are doing a sunday of a 3 day weekend, so people can relax and enjoy themselves, and OOT guests could fly in Sat and out on Monday and not miss any work or school.
That would be my concern with a Monday, yes, it may be cheaper, but you may get less out of town guests because they would have to miss at least one day of work to get home

Re: Monday Wedding (3-day weekend)
Monday would save you ALOT of money. However, you may get less of a response because people may have to go to work the next day (esp. if they are OOT). I know alot of jobs do not let people take off a day following a holiday weekend. Also, even if you have an afternoon reception, its fun to have the option for an after party.
You can always look into Sunday. However, when I was looking into booking 10-10-10, it falls on a Sunday of Columbus day weekend and may RHs were charging me extra b/c it was a holiday weekend.

Re: Monday Wedding (3-day weekend)
I've read of plenty of girls who are doing the Monday thing. Read over on the '08 board. I'm sure there are a few getting married on the upcoming holiday.

Re: Monday Wedding (3-day weekend)
Thanks for the responses! I asked these questions because I did book a Monday of a 3-day weekend. I really didn't save that much as it was like a Sunday. My OOT are family from Boston and they are soo ride-or-die, at the end of May we have a 7-Day Family reunion in Cancun! We are going to have a reception in Trinidad too for all of FH's family that cannot come so there are not a lot travelers. I mean I hope people don't throw a fit , ideally if they didn't come to the after party they would be home by 8

And you know what? if they went to a BBQ or something, they'd probably be home later than that!

I understand the cost factor of having a Sunday evening or a Monday wedding...but I personally dont enoy going to these weddings. I would prefer a Friday night and then be able to sleep in...But this is just my opinion...Being that your reception ends at 8..this would be fine...the wedding that I attended went until 12...I was exhausted the next day!

Midnight! Oh no! The reception is over by 5:30pm so people have time to get back to the various boroughs.

Well i think as long as you send out Save the dates in advance, so that people clear the date (instead of going away on the weekend), you should be ok..
let us know what you end up doing!

Re: Monday Wedding (3-day weekend)
I am an 09-er and I am having a Monday wedding of a long weekend (Prez. day weekend). Everyone seems fine with it! We are having it end at 9pm so everyone has time to travel to get home and not stay out too late before work the next day.
Plus, I get all weekend to prepare for the wedding, and the rates are cheaper too.
