why don't you do a honeymoon registry?

what is this??

its a HM website where you register for your honeymoon and then you let people know (one way or another) and they give you money there instead of a gift to help pay for your HM. You don't have to put your whole HM on there, like if you are doing a cruise and you just want people to pay for certain excursions. then they would just help you pay for that.

I voted 'NO IT'S TACKY'

You aren't supposed to reference gifts of any sort on an invitation.

If you're mom if giving you such a hard time, maybe go to the library/barnes & noble/or online and shows her books/websites/magazines that show proper etiquette for invitations. maybe that will help?

It's really tacky to elicit gifts on a wedding invitation. I have received an invitation that said 'no boxed gifts' and a lot of people were like wow, what balls, and some ppl were a bit pissed. Most people try to cover their plates when they go to a wedding. I've learned some people (FH's coworkers!) have called the place where a wedding was and asked for a pp quote!
If you are concerned that your family and friends usually bring gifts and not money to a wedding then register for really nice stuff. Fine china, silverware, stand mixers, crystal....etc...stuff you really want but can't really afford. Register at Macys or Bloomingdales where they have lots of fancy stuff.
I've lived with FH for over 2 years also and we still have gaps in our kitchen! There are always upgrades. And if you have any inkling your will have a shower, you really should register. Otherwise you could end up with 15 crappy toasters without gift receipts.
