Money

I know we are all in the same boat where we are struggling for money, but I'm desperate. I'm trying to prove to my father (who has money) that I don't need his help and I can afford things on my own. Problem is, I'm an underpaid teacher. So, I was wondering, anyone know a way to make some extra money? Keep it legal ladies LOL

Re: Money

You could always tutor. I tutor and get $40 for an hour. You could put an add in your local paper or put flyers up in the library.

Christmas is coming. There are plenty of people who need help. Try the mall or maybe waitressing. They make good tips!

I would definitely try waitressing. With a teacher's schedule and pretty much 'set hours' I am guessing it would be pretty easy to balance both.

Re: Money

I agree, I just don't think I would get hired easily because I have no experience!

I know a teacher who also teaches at Huntington Learning Center in the evenings and weekends. There are so many on LI. You should check their website and call them. I'm in the same boat as you, I'm looking for a 2nd job now too.

Re: Money

the best job for quick cash is probably a waitressing job or bartending job.. it fits well with your day hours teaching...

Re: Money

I used to work at Sylvan and they actually called to see if I wanted to come back. It's just with that the hours are so limited that it only brings in about a extra $100 a week. That is definatly better then nothing though! I can earn about $1500 by the time of my wedding if I get alot of hours.

You can always become a real estate agent! My fiance and his family own a real estate company so I got my license. Although I am not an active real estate agent I know that I can always sell a house if I meet someone who is looking! Hope this helps.... If you need info about how to become an agent FM me! Happy to help!

I'm going to search for jobs right now. Maybe someone needs some part time office help. Or a paper route. I wish I could find a valid envelope stuffing job. I would stuff til my fingers bleed!

You know, I was thinking today about this while i was walking down the street in Brooklyn. I figured it would be a good idea to actually get a part time weekend job at a catering hall. You know, one that does a lot of weddings. It doesn't have to be the hall you're getting married at but it would serve two purposes. First, you make money, right? Secondly, you would get to see so many weddings, learn about vendors, get ideas, see what people like and incorporate it into your own wedding.

What do you think?

that's an awesome idea. Do you have any idea where I can look into this further

Re: Money

TUTOR! you can make $40.00 an hour at the LEAST..... straight cash, no taxes. i would tap into your colleagues and have them refer you to parents that have inquired about tutoring (as most districts don't allow you to tutor a child in your own class)
