Money issues...

Re: Money issues...

Maybe you should look for another one first ... a cheaper one. But if you really want this one - I would get it. I have spent hundreds on stupid things but I really wanted them and I'm happy I have them now - and looking foward to using them even if it is for one day....

Good Luck babe!

I haven't heard about personalized runners. However I have been finding that most limo companies provide runners for free. You may want to check into that and save the money for something else. :)

First, I would say check with your ceremony venue and make sure you can have an aisle runner. If you are getting married in a church, you may not be able to. Okay, but assuming you can have one, I honestly wouldn't get it.

1. I don't think most people would notice it. Is it monogramed the whole way or just at the top? If it's just at the top can people in the back see it?

2. I would spend the $ on something else I want

If this was your one splurge I would say go for it, but it seems as if it's not.

Check out the newlywed board. AN aisle runner was one of the things that most brides said they wished they didn't spend money on it.

OMG!! I just read this post of mine. Guess what I'm about to buy!! Yep, an aisle runner (I'm going to try to personalize it myself though!). Gosh, the heart is strong! My mom was the one that put this runner idea in my head!

I'm the wrong person to give advice on money, I'm the one who wants everything and don't care how much it costs but my FI is the total opposite. If it weren't for him I would be in total debt right now because of my wedding but he has it all under control financially.

Good luck

Okay, I have a dilemma. We've been pretty good about spending money...but I feel like some things are going to be extra expenses that we really don't need...

For example, the personalized aisle runner I want is 130 bucks...I just feel like that's a lot to spend on something that i'll never use again....

what do you guys say? i'm torn...ray is saying we shouldn't, but i'm thinking i really really really want it, but my head is saying no....

opionions? hugs? anything?

I want one too, but I think they're so over priced...I'm going to attempt to make one myself. $20-30 for the fabric aisle runner and some paints...it's going to take more time than anything...oh...patience too!

ETA: We (FH & I) are paying for EVERYTHING too... So there are tons of 'crafty' projects for the day! A lot of the things can be done yourself very easily...Somethings cost more to do yourself...shop around...great deals can be found. Good luck!

I wouldn't spend $130 on something that I am going to walk on if I could spend it on something else. My opinion is that you really don't need it.

I would use that money someplace else - it's anice detail, but it's something that gets walked all over, dirty, ripped and is unusable. You can do more with the money.

And here are some hugs

I couldn't agree more. It's heard to listen to your head when your heart is so strong too

I'm laughing so hard right now. This is an old post that I bumped up. Azoodie already got her runner. I bumped it because in my original reply, I said that the runner is too much $$ and that I wouldn't get one. Well, somehow I convinced myself that I have to get a runner (okay my mom mentioned it and now I want one).

i would wait til the last minute to order the aisle runner (or however long it would take). see what $$ you have leftover, what you can spare, and what else you need to buy. I feel it's a once in a lifetime day and 20 yrs from now you dont want to look back on everything perfect and say 'man, shoulda got that runner!'

Re: Money issues...

I would rather go the spa with that money the day before my wedding but that is coming from Ms. Frugal- Other than the live band and honeymoon, I don't think I spent anywhere near anyone else I know on this wedding. I am just cheap!

Hi there Azad,

Is it possible to get the aisle runner in advance from your limo company, and then stencil on your monogram yourself? I remember your photo cube project - you're very crafty!!!!

woops - sorry - I didnt know that this was an old post!

I think its great that you got it!

The whole wedding we are spending money on things we will never use again, all for one day. The dress, the tiara, the veil, the flowers... and I can go on and on and on. Whats one more thing?

Re: Money issues...

i also really wanted the personal aisle runner.... i contacted the person for rates and estimated date of arrival and all

then i decided that i would rather spend the buck thirty on new clothes for the honeymoon...
