Okay, I have a dilemma. We've been pretty good about spending money...but I feel like some things are going to be extra expenses that we really don't need...
For example, the personalized aisle runner I want is 130 bucks...I just feel like that's a lot to spend on something that i'll never use again....
what do you guys say? i'm torn...ray is saying we shouldn't, but i'm thinking i really really really want it, but my head is saying no....
opionions? hugs? anything?

I'd use that $130 for something else. Sorry.

I'll be of no help to you since I also wouldn't spend $130 on something I will use once. But it may hold more sentimental value for you than it would for me.
But I can at least offer

It depends if you know you need that 130 somewhere else that is worth it more, then don't use it, if you have everything you possibly NEED and that aisle runner is one little extra that will make you happy go for it...in the scheme of thing 130 is a dime in the bucket compared to what everything else costs for the wedding...JMO

Ok-- well, I come from the school of thought- if it is an indulgence that you really want-- go for it, you get married once.. but my question- do you forsee any other indulgences?
Personally- I would rather use that for like pampering or a spa treatment the week before your wedding.. OR use that money for a small detail at the reception- something that lasts a little longer than the ceremony.
If you are really trying to cut back, I would eliminate it..

i dont think that this in an expense thats worth it
theres sooooooooooo many other things that you could do to personalize your wedding for this amount, and that would last longer... IMO if u get it, the rest of your life, youre going to have the conflict 'should we just throw it out,,, we need this storage room' 'we cant Throw it out b/c its from our wedding... so we'll just put it back in the attic... its too sentimental to throw out'
if u have your heart SET on it, then indulge yourself, but if youre 'iffy' about it, i say PAss

I hear you about the money. I'm beginning to freak too. As for the aisle runner, I'm going to make mine. I saw themdo it on For Better or For Worse so I know it can be done. I'll offer my sevices if you'd like.
Don't worry it will all work out.

Re: Money issues...
As someone who spent more than double on our invitation budget, I definitely think there are times you should splurge. It's your wedding, you are celebrating your love, and it is a once in a lifetime experience. However, you do have to choose when to splurge. If you really want it, go for it, but if there are other areas where you want to do alittle something more, consider that. But in the end, if you cannot get it out of your head, go for what will make you smile.

Re: Money issues...
coming from someone as broke as me.. 130$ is not that much. If you really want it do it. You could have the part with the most decoraton cut out and framed to make it more 'worth it' and get more than one use out of it. I think i remember that one part of it was going to have your names and decoration around it and your date. You could frame that part.

okay guys i'll be honest...it's not so much just the aisle runner...but it's the bells i bought off ebay that stink because they don't ring like i thought the would, it's all the candles, the votive place cards, the rose petals....the list just goes on and on!
i just feel like i'm spending so much money on little things that do eventually and most certainly add up....
lisa what kind of aisle runner are you going to make? i'm just afraid of trying to make my own and wasting more money
or maybe, just maybe...this is all cause i'm pmsing

Re: Money issues...
I've learned during this process that the biggest costs are the little things you want to add....the little details that NO ONE else will have, and some of these little things WILL make your wedding different and some won't, and ppl will NOT even notice, I know we all think they will notice, but they WON'T, I promise you, I'm the most anal person that notices EVERYTHING, and at a recent friends wedding she asked if I noticed a small touch she made, and I didn't....and ppl as anal as me definitely didn't!!!! You have to sit down and put things into perspective (I know this is nearly impossible when you're planning a wedding and EVERYTHING is the most important thing), but you have to sit down and put yourself in others shoes, would you notice this at another weddingk, would it make your experience at that wedding a better one...I looove the aisle runner idea..the bells not ringing right...I don't think anyone would even think about how the bells aren't ringing right!!!!! you know what I mean.....hope this helped

Re: Money issues...
I know all about it.
I wouldn't get it. We've been on a strict budget regarding the wedding but last week alone we had the following unexpected expenses.
Had to call the plumber twice... over $500 Emergency cesspool pump... $600 because it wasn't capped Found out we have to replace the oil burner... at least $3500 (the first three was all in a 24 hour period) I had to replace my rear brakes on my car.
Thank God we painted the kitchen, livingroom, dining area and hallway ourselves over the vacation. My back killed me the entire time but that would have run at least another $2000.
Take it from me, you will need that money for other things.

Re: Money issues...
I am also agree with the majority if you are tight for cash you should spend it on something more meaningfull
I also wanted the monogram runner, but instead I put the money towards my polariod guestbook because I can go back and look at that and see the what my money was spend on
