Not sure exactly what you are asking but most people in NY give $ as the gift.

Giving gifts off the registry is a southern thing. Most people who are from NY will give $$

The registry is usually for showers and engagment gifts. Cash is most often given at a wedding. You may receive gifts from OOT people.

We mostly got cash/checks from our guests, I think we received 3 gifts off our registry.
