Money saving advice

Money saving advice

OK I'm trying to save money for hair/makeup and I have NO clue how to go about it.

Since I am an Sun afternoon bride, I need somone to come to my house early.

I've been told a mix of prices everywhere mostly from $200-300. Any ideas how or if I can even save?

Any advice?

How early do you need it done? Most m/u counters @ the mall will do it if you purchase $50 of product

You can also try local hair places ...alot of them have people that do makeup..and its alot cheaper

I go to an aesthetician in Deer Park - she also does make-up - it's Allure Skin Care 631-586-2745... she also owns a hair salon.

I think you're best bet is to ask for recs from friends about salon people - chances are their stylist will know a make-up artist and they'll both be able to come to your home.. KWIM?

Since salons aren't open on Sundays - almost all of them are free to go to your home - I would guess you just have to be discreet about it... go for a trial and if you like it, slip them a note or try to whisper it them or something... lol... veddy sneaky.

for hair: have you considered contacting LIBBS or another school, and having a student doing your hair?

I think my mom goes there too actually. I'm blanking on the girls name offhand. I went once but it was too $$ fo me. My mom said she might give me a cerificate there for my bday.

I asked my mom to talk to her but I don't think she ever did. I figured since my mom's been going there for so long, she might get a good price.

what about going for a trial there, & asking somone if they do it on the side?

My mom would probably freak out bigtime if I even suggested something like this. As I mentioned to you yesterday, she thinks i'm being too cheap (especially since she's probably paying for me and MOH/sister).

It's not just me I'm worried about. I know the other girls might want to get all done up and they can't afford either.

My sister's best friends sister, (who I was friendly with in HS) does hair...but she 'won't deal with brides'. She might be able to recommend somone in her salon, i don't think their prices would be too bad.

A the Fortunoff's thing I asked the woman who did my hair (red door salon), she said no. LOL

The salon I go to is opening at 6am for my friends Sunday afternoon wedding this October. You could always try them. It's called Giovanna's in Massapequa. It's about $60-70 for bridesmaids and a little over $100 for brides. Not terrible!

Not sure about makeup though. sorry!

But a lot of them will come to your house or open the salon early.

What is the deal with airbrushing? I literally wear lip gloss only - sometimes concealor if I get a zit. I know NOTHING about makeup!!!

Re: Money saving advice

I am also a sunday wedding. I found a salon right near my house with great prices. I am just going to go there on sunday and they aren't charging me to open. They said they would have 3 hairstylists so they can work on my BM's and the mothers. They also do makeup there too. It's kind of annoying that I have to go out but I am saving a lot. I don't know where you live I live in Hauppauge and its right near me.
