I never heard of it and think its a bit tacky to ask for cash. But its better then no shower or yucky gifts that you can't return. As long as the people you want are there, and they know you weren't the one ASKING for the money, what the heck. Not sure if I'd give like $50 or what the gift would cost plus tax like $47.82. Something to think about

Never heard of it. I think it is tacky idea & would rather have the usual kind of bridal shower.

Xelindrya, a money shower is money instead of gifts. I dont think being a 'New Yorker' has anything to do with it! I think people do things different no matter where they are from. Sounds like you will have great support for your wedding! Good Luck! :)

I just recently went to the travel agent to look for honeymoon places and found out that you could register there (just like you do at macy's) and peoplke could donate to this. Would your MIL be up for this idea? I think it is a great idea for people who already have everything (which you said you dont)

thanks everyone. I think that I will just tell her next time she says it, that I want a regular shower, and make sure my maid of honor and matron of honor know it too!
