i think she was a little crazy all along. she just choose to play the victim at her trial.

I thought the movie was excellent. Eileen Wornos had a sad life. Her whole situation was sad to me. She was definately crazy though.

Re: Monster...

i think that some people think that the ppl who feel bad for aileen defend her murders which is not true at all. no one saying shes some great woman. but i do have compassion for her. she was a victim as well.

My dh and I just bought the movie, but still haven't seen it...I will post my opinions when I finally see it..

I actually haven't and won't see the movie. I have seen biographies about her so i know the story. I have friends who saw it and told me the general sense they got from it..That they make people empathize with her and her situation..Blaming her childhood and upbringing as causes for her actions..
Which can be possibly true. But i guess i just can't watch anything that would make the public feel bad for that nasty person..

I mean really ...if hitlers mom spanked him cause he was a bed wetter...causing him to go on to attempt to annihilate an entire population of people...would you feel bad for him? Or even if her was beated silly everyday as a child...would you feel bad for osama bin ladin?...I wouldn't

We watched it last night and I agree, they definitely try and make you feel bad for her. Sadly, I kind of did!! BUT, I do not agree with what she did. When that first guy rapped and beat her, she killed him in self-defense to survive. But, why all of the others? She became desperate and very selfish. I know she needed money and she loved that girl, but she didn't have to kill a poor, innocent guy who only tried to help her and for once, didn't want any sexual favors from her. She needed LOTS of help (if that would even work) and was obviously lacking love and a nourishing environment as a child, but that gives her no reason to kill people. There are certain rules to life and killing people is just not one of them!!!

BTW, Charlize Theron (don't know how to spell her name) and Christina Richi..did an excellent job on their parts..I don't think C. Richi was even acknowledged for that movie?? Right??

Re: Monster...

she wasnt acknowledged really..... omg, you HAVE to see a pic of the REAL girl, tye. or, 'selby' in the movie. they do not look ANYTHING alike!

Re: Monster...

Ty has short spiked blond hair and is overweight. I saw an HBO documentary recently on the case after watching the movie. They totally supported Aileen....I did not agree with it at all.

She had a rough life, but she killed those men for money for her and her lover. One man had a handicapped wife and that was probably why he was picking up a prostitute and another just tried to help her out. So i did not feel sorry for her at all. In the HBO documentary they actually tried to make it seem like Ty was the bad person because she knew about what she was doing and didn't report it and then took the stand against her at her trial.

Aileen was dispicable for what she did and i did not feel sorry for her in anyway. She screamed obscenties all through her trial and even spit on a court officer. Disgusting....I for one am happy that she got what was coming to her. JMO so don't flame me please.

who cares? what does that matter? she wasnt even fully gay anyway. She was married to an old man for a long time....

I FOUND HER STORY TO BE VERY INTERESTING....I BELIEVE SHE HAD MENTAL PROBLEMS/ISSUES WHICH DROVE HER TO DO WHAT SHE DID. IT ALL GOES BACK TO HER PAST. I'M NOT SAYING IT'S EXCUSABLE IN ANY WAY HOWEVER, SHE SHE HAD A 'NORMAL' LIFE, SHE WOULD HAVE NEVER DONE THE THINGS SHE DID.

no, but in all fairness i think that christina ricci gave an excellent performance. i think she def shouldve won an award, but i dont think she did...but at least in chralze therons acceptance speech for her oscar she said that christina was the real hero... or something like that.

Yeah. I def. think she should have been acknowledged for her role..supporting actress or something..she was really good!!

Did she have to gain weight for the part? She looked heavier than usual.
lolita4life Posted:

Re: Monster...

i know Charlize DEF did...

and last night when watching it we were wondering the same thing about Ricci. she looked alittle plump... but then again, i think her weight always fluxuates..... doesnt it?
