Has anyone heard / used this place for a get away. Our HM is 2 months after our wedding and we are thinking of going to Montauk right after the wedding
Any opinions would be great

Re: Montauk Downs Yacht Club
I spent a lot of summers out near there and I love the area. I've never acutally stayed at the Montauk Yacht Club but I have heard good things about it. Here's a website if you're interested.
Montauk Downs and Montauk Yacht Club are two different places. You want the Yacht Club. It's expensive, but has all the ammenities you could want.

I spent my summers in east hampton, and spent a lot of time in Montauk... I've never personally been, but heard it's very nice... the one place I absolutely LOVE in Montauk is the Gurney's Inn...

Re: Montauk Downs Yacht Club
I was born and raised in East Hampton, so I have never had the chance to stay at Gurneys or any hotels for that matter, except for the one I manage. But I have used the spa at Gurneys and loved it!
TY!!!! I never heard of that before and now that I've seen the link I know that even if we can't have our honeymoon right away we'll have someplace so nice to go to.
FYI I am going to be a full time teacher by the time we get married, and won't have tenure yet so I can't just take a week when I want it!
Stayed twice last Sept/ off season. Very nice rooms huge, but AC NOISY and old. Loved the pools inside and out, restaurant inside and out-good food and snacks. Ask for a downstairs beach front room, not marina view. The patios are great downstrs and open onto the beach. In season they bring drinks and food to you. PS also stayed at Gurneys many times, spa is wonderful but no outdoor pool only beach. Rooms are VERY expensive on the beach, the cottages are the best but $$$$$$$$$.

Even if you don't stay at Gurneys, you should really check out the spa... you can get full use of all the facilities, including roman bath, steam room, saltwater pool, etc... (all of which are GORGEOUS), and during the off season, it only costs $25 for the whole day... I'm having my wedding in Southampton, and I'm even thinking of bringing my BM's there for the day, the day before a nice gift...and to relax before the big day :)
