Montauk in May

Montauk in May

I' m thinking of having my wedding in Montauk in May - But, I'm having second thoughts because of the weather. I'd like to have the rehearsal dinner (clambake on the beach) and ceremony outside, but I'm wondering if it might be too chilly for outdoor activities.

What do you think? Has anyone been to a wedding in the Hamptons/Montauk at this time of year?

I don't know if this helps, but I went to the Jersey shore last summer May 17-24 and it was absolutely frigid. I didn't expect it to be hot, but we were in sweaters the entire week.. :(

I live near that area and the beach in may is pretty cold and windy and the weather can be hit or miss.

May is Hit or miss out that way...especially Montauk since its totally on the coast and will get winds off the ocean....

As another Hamptons girl, I'd agree. The weather is hit or miss in May. It could be chilly and breezy or sunny and warm.

Thanks everyone... I guess I have to decide if I'm willing to take the gamble or not. The prices are so much cheaper before memorial day, but it sounds like there's a reason for that.
