...A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MONDAY THROUGH MONDAY EVENING...

HIGH PRESSURE FROM CANADA WILL PLACE A COLD AIRMASS ACROSS THE REGION TONIGHT. ON MONDAY...AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL FORM ALONG THE MID ATLANTIC COAST...AND THEN INTENSIFY AS IT HEADS NORTHEAST PASSING WELL SOUTHEAST OF LONG ISLAND MONDAY NIGHT. THIS WILL SET UP THE LOCAL AREA FOR A POTENTIALLY SIGNIFICANT LATE SEASON WINTER STORM.

SNOW AND SLEET ARE EXPECTED TO OVERSPREAD THE AREA DURING THE MORNING AND COME DOWN HEAVY AT TIMES IN THE AFTERNOON. THE SNOW AND SLEET SHOULD TAPER OFF DURING THE EVENING HOURS...BUT NOT BEFORE LEAVING AS MUCH AS 4 TO 6 INCHES ON THE GROUND.

A WINTER STORM WATCH IS ISSUED WHEN SEVERE WINTER WEATHER IS POSSIBLE, BUT NOT IMMINENT. AT THE TIME, THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS. FUTURE DRIVING AND WALKING CONDITIONS MAY BECOME HAZARDOUS, SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.STAY TUNED TO THE WEATHER CHANNEL AND WEATHER.COM FOR UPDATES....
