More BM Dress Drama - FINAL Update

Original post by October Bliss

I don't know whether to be angry or to cry.

I picked up the dresses for my OOT girls on 7/15. They were both covered in stains and had to be cleaned on that day. I was so distressed I paid no attention to the sizes of the dresses. Turns out one dress was ordered in a size 8, that IMO should have been a size 10. The size 8 bust measurement is 35 inches, and my BM measures 35 1/2 inches. (her waist measurement is also 1/2 inch larger than size 8).

I called the salon today, and they told me not to worry, the 1/2 inch is no big deal. I was also told I had more important things to worry about. My BM calmed me down after I flipped out and said not to worry, she'll stop eating ice cream and cheese for the month of September and will make it work.

But . . . . I was planning on mailing the dresses out tomorrow so I inspected them again. Guess what?? The back seam on BOTH dresses was sewn incorrectly and is all bunched up and looks horrible. I had both my mother and my aunt look at them and they both agree that I need to demand new dresses.

I really don't need this.

SECOND UPDATE

So, the dresses did indeed get shipped back. THANK GOODNESS the back seam on two of the three dresses was fixed. My MOH's dress was NOT sent back to the manufacturer. The woman at the bridal salon said 'you said it was perfect' I did NOT - I said 'it's better than the other two but it's NOT perfect' I am stuck with that dress as is.

The dresses, which had previously been cleaned were stained AGAIN!!! They cleaned one of them, but not the other because that is the one that was ordered in the wrong size. They claim they will be able to fit my BM. Too bad she doesn't live in New York!

Everyone say a little prayer, or do a little dance or whatever, that she comes to New York for my shower so they can fit her for this dress. TIA!

OMG Darlene!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you are having a screaming match with these women at this bridal boutique and demanding a number to speak with the dress designer!!! This is horrible what they are doing to you!

I can not believe that a manufacturer would send dresses that are stained and messed up. They should be ashamed of themselves. I hope everything works out for you and your BMS, If the problem is not fixed I too would demand a refund or a new set of dresses!! The nerve of some people.

FINAL UPDATE:

So, my BM actually came to NY for the shower. She made it to the salon to try on the dress with @ 5 minutes to spare. I could not go with her because I had to pack up everything from the shower and take it home.

She said the dress looks great on her, but if she gains 1 single ounce between now and the wedding it will be too small. It is so tight on the top that she can NOT wear a bra! So my D-cup BM will be without a bra on my wedding day! She said not to worry b/c she hates them anyway, but I really think she was just trying to make me feel better about the entire situation.

In a nutshell, my girls will we wearing the dresses that I love, in the color that I love, with screwed up side seams, and great looking rear seams, but at least one will be squished into her dress and slightly uncomfortable all night long.

They'll all look gorgeous but it won't matter because everyone will be busy looking at YOU! Besides, true friends will wear tight dresses for friends.

BM dresses usually stretch out anyway. I had a BM dress that was basically preventing me from breathing, but within a few minutes it stretched enough so that it was comfortable. A friend of mine had the same situation in a wedding and the dress stretched as well. I hope everything works out for you!

Darlene, (as you know) it will work out. I'm sorry you have had to go through this, but your girls will look beautiful on that day & I'm sure your one bm will lose a pound or 2 by your wedding & the dress will fit fine

There isn't any weight for her to lose - she barely weighs 110 as it is. She is the one in the green shirt in the back in this pic. The problem, as you can see from this pic of her, is the bust size.
