More BM Dress Drama - FINAL Update

More BM Dress Drama - FINAL Update

I don't know whether to be angry or to cry.

I picked up the dresses for my OOT girls on 7/15. They were both covered in stains and had to be cleaned on that day. I was so distressed I paid no attention to the sizes of the dresses. Turns out one dress was ordered in a size 8, that IMO should have been a size 10. The size 8 bust measurement is 35 inches, and my BM measures 35 1/2 inches. (her waist measurement is also 1/2 inch larger than size 8).

I called the salon today, and they told me not to worry, the 1/2 inch is no big deal. I was also told I had more important things to worry about. My BM calmed me down after I flipped out and said not to worry, she'll stop eating ice cream and cheese for the month of September and will make it work.

But . . . . I was planning on mailing the dresses out tomorrow so I inspected them again. Guess what?? The back seam on BOTH dresses was sewn incorrectly and is all bunched up and looks horrible. I had both my mother and my aunt look at them and they both agree that I need to demand new dresses.

I really don't need this.

I wish I could, but my grandmother is a seamstress, and my mother inspected the dress very closely. She doesn't think it can be let out - there isn't enough material. Besides, the seams are screwed up, and the material is pinched and sewn wrong.

She is coming with me on Saturday to take the dresses back to the salon.

WOW Darlene!!!!!!! I'd go to your dress store and not leave until every inch of every dress is inspected and insist they fix any deficiences they caused!

The problem is that it's not the salon - it's the manufacturer. Just by looking at the dress you can tell that when it was made it was done wrong. But I was soooo upset about the stains, I didn't closely examine everything else, AND FH was told he couldn't be in the dress part of the shop b/c women were changing and he was flipping out over what was taking so long, AND we had just come from Cindy's ceremony and we had to change to go to the reception, AND he had borrowed a car that needed to be returned by a certain time. It was all just such a mess the day I picked them up, and I should have just left them there and gone back another day.

UPDATE:

So I took the dresses back on Saturday. They tried to tell me the seams just need ironing. NOT!!

I convinced them to call the manufacturer to see if they could be returned.

After talking with them, apparantly the manufacturer wants to 'fix' them instead of authorizing a return and a refund. The bridal salon is overnighting them back today, and they will allegedly be fixed tomorrow, overnighted back and will be here 'all fixed' on Friday.

I am soooo not believing this. The dresses are chiffon. You can't fix them!!!

WHere did you order your gowns from? That is very frustrating, espcially if they can't fix the gowns and are probably going to send you new ones anyway, its too bad you can't get the right size!!

Just keep this all documented, so you have records of all this incase the dresses do come back poorly redone. Demand a refund if they look bad in your eyes!!! No BM should have to pay for a dress poorly made.

I love that statement.

On a serious note: that is unacceptable and they should just replace them!

Re: More BM Dress Drama - Update x 2

SECOND UPDATE

So, the dresses did indeed get shipped back. THANK GOODNESS the back seam on two of the three dresses was fixed. My MOH's dress was NOT sent back to the manufacturer. The woman at the bridal salon said 'you said it was perfect' I did NOT - I said 'it's better than the other two but it's NOT perfect' I am stuck with that dress as is.

The dresses, which had previously been cleaned were stained AGAIN!!! They cleaned one of them, but not the other because that is the one that was ordered in the wrong size. They claim they will be able to fit my BM. Too bad she doesn't live in New York!

Everyone say a little prayer, or do a little dance or whatever, that she comes to New York for my shower so they can fit her for this dress. TIA!

OMG, you didn't need this stress! I hope it is resolved ASAP.

Do you mind saying who is the manufacturer and/or the salon? You probably want to wait until it's all taken care of...

I have NO problem naming the manufacturer. The dresses are from Impression Bridal. As for the salon, at this point in time I feel that they are mostly doing everything they can to make me happy even if they did order the wrong size dress. That is my complaint with them. IF (and this is a big IF) my BM comes to New York before the end of the month and they can do the alterations I will either post that they did the right thing, or that they didn't and will name them. For right now I am just keeping my fingers crossed.

I'll take Impression Bridal off the list. I can't believe there are so many problems with these dresses-you don't need any added stress right now. I'm sorry.
